WATCH: ESPN kicks off 2024 college football season with Jelly Roll's "Get By" as the official anthem
On Thursday's edition of the Pat McAfee Show on ESPN, the host announced the new college football anthem for the 2024 season. With the songwriter and performer Jelly Roll on the show, McAfee decided to share the reel he received from the network.
"Get By is a song that will be the song and the theme of college football. ESPN sent us a college football reel with the song on it, this the debut ladies and gentleman," McAfee said.
An extravaganza of iconic college football moments from the last few years followed, accompanied by Jelly Roll's new song, "Get By." Jelly Roll joins a select group of musicians who have worked with ESPN to create a song for college football.
The list includes Post Malone, Fall Out Boy, Lauren Alaina, X Ambassadors, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Imagine Dragons, Judah & the Lion, Juice WRLD & Marshmello, DJ Snake & Rick Ross and Yungblud.
ESPN adds Steve Addazio to its analysts' roster
The release of "Get By" wasn't the only important announcement out of ESPN this week, with the network adding Steve Addazio to the analyst roster.
Adazzio is a former college football coach who led Temple, Boston College and Colorado State. His most recent college football job was as the offensive line coach for Texas A&M between 2022 and 2023.
“We are excited to welcome Steve Addazio to our talented roster of analysts, Steve’s vast experience and enthusiasm for college football make him a perfect fit for our coverage and we look forward to having him join us in the booth this fall,” ESPN's Vice President Amanda Gifford said about the addition of Addazio.
“I’m honored to join ESPN and share my love for college football with viewers across the country. I’m eager to utilize my coaching experience in a new way and bring my perspective and passion to the commentary booth,” Addazio said via ESPN.
The coach-turned-analyst will make his debut with ESPN on Week 1 alongside play-by-play commentator Clay Matvick. An announcement regarding the network's full schedule of commentators is yet to be released.
