WATCH: Hall of famer Warren Sapp extends his knowledge to Colorado team during intense workout session
Deion Sanders' Colorado football team got some knowledge from one of their Hall of Fame coaches, Warren Sapp.
In a video shared by Thee Pregame Show on Instagram, the Super Bowl champion was seen training the Buffaloes defense in an intense session. Sapp showed the players how to perform a drill then oversaw the squad doing it, giving constant feedback to them.
“Don't wanna be like the rest, come to Colorado and be coached by the best - literally. Two gold jackets on the staff,” the caption to the Instagram post read.
Sapp joined the Colorado football program in March as a graduate assistant, formally referred to as a "senior quality control analyst" in his appointment letter. He is tasked to train the offensive and defensive linemen, and share the wisdom he gathered through his 13 years in the NFL. He was seen doing exactly that in the latest clip from the Buffaloes summer training.
According to a USA Today report in April, Sapp will be making $150,000 per year through this stint. He hasn't coached at any level before coming to Boulder and spent his post retirement years as an NFL analyst in the media.
Warren Sapp’s gift for Deion Sanders
Sapp recently gave Sanders a surprise gift. It was an all-black full sleeve shirt, and he jokingly chose an XL size for Coach Prime. He justified it by saying that Sanders gets "a little fat" in the summer.
"During the summer, he get a little fat. Then he get sexy during the fall," Sapp was heard saying in the video. [13:26]
Sanders had a humorous reaction upon seeing the shirt and referred to it as a "fishing t-shirt," but quickly went on to say that people who will watch him wearing it wouldn't know that. He also revealed that it has been a tradition between him and Sapp as the legendary defensive tackle always brought gear from Florida.
Seeing the camaraderie between the head coach and his graduate assistant might be helpful for the student-athletes they are coaching together. The Buffaloes are undergoing intense training to prepare for the 2024 season. Last year was tough, and they are looking to correct all of the mistakes that were made on the field.
