WATCH: Marshall coach Charles Huff makes hilarious NIL offer to poach Ohio State players before Week 4 face-off
Marshall Thundering Herd head coach Charles Huff added some humor during the build-up to their Week 4 clash with Ohio State by offering his opponents an amusing NIL deal. Before Saturday's big game in Columbus, Huff joked about poaching Buckeyes with an all-you-can-eat deal from Tudor’s Biscuit World, a popular local chain in Huntington, West Virginia.
During a media session on Tuesday, Huff quipped, that while he was pleased with his players, he wouldn't mind having some of OSU's:
“I feel good about the track we’re on, trust me,” Huff said. “I know where we are, but I feel good about the track we’re on. And I feel good about the players we have. Would love to have some of those guys from Ohio State, too.”
The coach then hit the Buckeyes players with his tasty offer to transfer to Marshall.
“So if they want to transfer on down we’ve got a Tudor’s biscuit NIL all-you-can-eat,” he said. “So if any of those guys that run really, really fast at Ohio State like Tudor’s biscuits, I promise you, all you can eat, all day if you transfer here. But yeah.”
Tudor’s Biscuit World is famous for its hearty meals, including the aptly named "Thundering Herd" biscuit.
Although the Thundering Herd (1-1) are the clear underdog heading into the clash against No. 3 Ohio State (2-0), Huff’s lighthearted approach brought some levity to the challenge.
With a record of 23-18 over four seasons, Charles Huff is looking to guide Marshall to a fourth straight bowl game despite a tough start this year.
Charles Huff doesn't think Marshall-OSU is "David and Goliath"
In 2022, Marshall Thundering Herd coach Charles Huff led his team to a thrilling road win over No. 8 Notre Dame and followed it up with a victory against Virginia Tech the next season.
This year, Marshall opened strong with a 45-3 win over Stony Brook, but after a 31-14 loss at Virginia Tech on Sept. 7, they had a break to prepare for the Buckeyes.
Ahead of Marshall's game against Ohio State, Huff talked about what is needed for his team to compete with the Buckeyes.
"We've got a good plan coming up,” Charles Huff said [H/t Deadspin]. “It's going to take our best and that's what you want. It's going to take our collective best, our individual best.”
“We don't have to be superstars,” he added. “This is not David and Goliath. This is not, you know, high school vs. the pros. This is a really good team vs. a really good team, and when you have that, the margin for error is small."
Next up for Ohio State after Saturday: Michigan State on Sept. 28, while Marshall hosts Western Michigan the same day.
