WATCH: Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel and GF Zo Caswell "distract" themselves while mourning the death of their puppy
Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel and his girlfriend, Zo Caswell, announced on Sunday that they had to euthanize their six-month-old puppy because of stomach issues. To recover from the loss of their first pet, the couple 'distracted' themselves by playing table tennis. Caswell uploaded a video, captioning it:
"How to overcome the death of your puppy: distract yourself"
Gabriel and Zo adopted the dog in April and shared a humorous post about it. The caption joked if Winston would play as an RB, TE, or WR.
"Gettin our boy Winston right for the Spring Game this Saturday. He’s still deciding between RB, WR and TE. Bout to give @jordanjames2_ @tezmania15 @terrancef3 a run for their money.
"Got some Routes on Air in and this dudes got elite quickness (kind of like Tez) and down the field speed. Lacks size of course but size doesn’t matter (in this case, because he’s a skill position). I think he’s ready for some reps"
Dillon Gabriel talks about the death of his puppy at a press conference
The QB attended an Oregon Ducks press conference, where the media asked him about dealing with the passing away of his furry friend. He said:
"You just go through life and you learn a lot. Like I said, it's just perspective. You just got to gain it. And, you know, trust, you know, God's plan, you know, I think I've always tried to live a life of hoping that I'd just be on that course."
While at the press conference, the Oregon Ducks QB appeared confident about entering the college football season. He said that he feels in "full command" of his offense and can make progress because of his training.
In his three years of college football, Dillon Gabriel has passed for more than 3,500 yards with 124 touchdowns and only 26 interceptions.
