WATCH: Texas stars Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning pose together during "An Amazing night in DKR"

The Texas Longhorns have one of the most talented quarterback rooms with Arch Manning and Quinn Ewers battling it out for the QB1 spot. Ewers has the advantage of being a third-year starter and one of the best-returning quarterbacks in college football.

Most recently, the two quarterbacks who have created one of the most intriguing storylines in college football were at an NIL collective event at the Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium alongside coach Steve Sarkisian and contributors to the collective.

Sarkisian posted pictures from the event on Instagram with the caption:

"What an amazing night at DKR!! 🤘🏽 You know how we do it All Gas, No Brakes!! @texasonefund @ryanbinghamofficial @brooksanddunn."

The Arch Manning vs. Quinn Ewers issue

Ever since Arch Manning chose the Texas Longhorns over offers from programs like the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs, the issue of the battle for the QB1 spot started in earnest.

With Quinn Ewers in the way, Manning has had to bide his time, and there was speculation that he would enter the transfer portal after Ewers opted to return to Texas for an extra year instead of declaring for the 2024 NFL draft.

Arch Manning had a sensational Orange versus White game in April, strengthening the calls for him to be installed as QB1 over Quinn Ewers.

Manning started 10-for-10 in the game and put on a show in the first half going 11-for-13 for 189 yards resulting in two touchdowns. He finished 19 of 26 for 355 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

On the "Yahoo Sports College Football" podcast, Sports Illustrated analyst Pat Forde waded into the debate between the two Texas quarterbacks, urging coach Sarkisian to let them compete for the starting spot.

"Quinn Ewers came back knowing that Arch Manning was probably gonna be there," Forde said. "Arch stayed knowing that Quinn Ewers was coming back. (Texas coach) Steve Sarkisian didn't counsel, to the best of my knowledge, either of them, 'Hey there might be another place for you.'
"So, everybody's gonna put on their big boy pants and go compete in the fall. Quinn Ewers is very good and had a great season last year, but I don't think he's guaranteed anything and nor should he necessarily be."

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian was diplomatic after the spring game when speaking about the battle for QB1 between the multi-talented Manning and Ewers.

"I know what Quinn's about," Sarkisian said. "Quinn's had a great spring. I wanted Arch to be able to just go play football. He hadn't really played in a year. We're very fortunate at the quarterback position to have a third-year starter to have the backup that we have."

However the battle between Arch Manning and Quinn Ewers ends, Texas Longhorns fans will be glad to have the two talented quarterbacks on their team.
