"We don't care about that": Deion Sanders rejects Colorado hype over big gain in bye week
Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has refuted any of the hype the team received during their bye in Week 10. Coach Prime has also insisted that his team has always played to win heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
During Tuesday's press conference, Sanders addressed his team's mindset after Colorado jumped to No. 21 in the AP Poll, while also climbing up to second in the Big 12 standings.
"We don't care about that," Sanders said. "I mean, every game is a playoff game to us. It's been that way all season."
Colorado beat Cincinnati 34-23 in Week 9 and was ranked No. 23 in the AP Poll. However, despite not playing in Week 10, the Buffaloes climbed two spots in the rankings due to results around them.
Hence, the Buffs were considered winners in their off week.
Colorado can string a winning run to make a push for College Football Playoff
As things stand, Colorado (6-2, 4-1 Big 12) has an outside chance of reaching the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff. The Buffaloes also have a winnable run of games to close out the regular season.
Following an open week, the Buffs will resume action on Saturday when they travel to face Texas Tech (6-3, 4-2). Colorado will then host Utah (4-4, 1-4) on Nov. 16. The Buffs will be on the road when they face Kansas (2-6, 1-4) on Nov. 23. Their final regular season game will be against Oklahoma State (3-6, 0-6) on Nov. 29.
Colorado will likely be favored to win all four games, especially with Heisman Trophy contenders quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way phenom Travis Hunter firing on all cylinders. Although it will be a challenging task, Coach Prime is likely backing his team to get four wins to close out the regular season without paying much attention to the rankings.
