“We will never forget that”: Nick Saban’s wife Miss Terry recalls her favorite Alabama football gameday traditions

Nick Saban and his wife, Terry Saban, joined a Zoom meeting of Alabama University trustees on Friday. The meeting was held to vote for approval of the team's football ground being renamed Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

After it was confirmed that Alabama would name its football field after Saban, Terry highlighted some of her favorite moments during the Tide's gamedays.

"Not often that a coach's family has four generations watching the games together," Terry said. "These exciting games at Bryant-Denny Stadium and experiencing the Walk of Champions. And our million-dollar band, big AL, the lights at night, the big plays, and the great hot dogs at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
"Four generations, watching and cheering together and being able to say ' Roll Tide' after every first down. We will never forget that."

Nick and Terry Saban have been married since Dec. 18, 1971. The couple has two children together, Nicholas and Kristen. Nick and Terry became grandparents for the first time in December 2013, when their son Nicholas and his wife Kelse welcomed their first child, Amelie. The Alabama power couple had their second grandchild when their daughter Kristen gave birth to a son in April 2020.

As per reports, Alabama is set to host Nick Saban's field-naming ceremony when the Tide hosts the South Florida Bulls on September 7. The legendary coach also expressed his gratitude to the program for the honor.

"We are humbled that The University of Alabama has honored us with the naming of Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium," said Saban. "The remarkable success that the football program has achieved over the past 17 years is a reflection of the hard work of many student-athletes, coaches and staff.
"Being leader of the process at Alabama has been the greatest privilege of my life. Terry and I are grateful for the naming of Saban Field, which forever celebrates our accomplishments."

During his 17-year coaching career at Alabama, Saban led the Tide to a 201-19 record. He won six national titles and nine SEC championships with the program before announcing his retirement in January this year.
