What happened to Christen Miller? Exploring Georgia DB going down on the field against UMass
The 10th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs are trying to solidify a spot in the College Football Playoff and may have to do so without one of their top defensive tackles for a while.
Sophomore defensive lineman Christen Miller went down with a shoulder injury and was tended to by the medical staff. He would wind up leaving the game with not much known on the broadcast.
However, it would be officially ruled that Miller suffered a shoulder injury and that he would not be returning for the Week 13 game against the UMass Minutemen. Miller has been doing well in an increased role this season as he has recorded 21 total tackles (nine solo, 12 assisted) with 1.5 sacks.
This injury could potentially be massive for the Georgia Bulldogs going forward as they try to make the College Football Playoff.
Can the Georgia Bulldogs make the College Football Playoff this season?
The Georgia Bulldogs are currently on the bubble to make the College Football Playoff and are in a prime spot to solidify their position. Making the SEC Championship Game would give them an even better shot as they would have it on their resume.
If they win, they are going to be in the CFP as they would be one of the five highest-ranked conference champions.
If they lose, there is still a significant chance the Georgia Bulldogs make the College Football Playoff for playing in as tough of a schedule as it has been. This is despite three losses at that point if they win out the regular season.
The Bulldogs need to win today and next week against Georgia Tech and they would finish 10-2 (8-2 SEC). The two teams ahead of them in the SEC standings are the Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies.
The benefit for the Bulldogs is that those teams play against one another next week in the regular season finale. Georgia also holds the tiebreaker over the Longhorns as they won their regular-season matchup earlier this year.
It is a bit unclear at this moment whether Texas A&M or Georgia hold the tiebreaker against one another.
Either way, Georgia seemingly controls their destiny and needs to win out to make the CFP.
