What happened to Malachi Moore? Exploring latest update on Alabama safety
Alabama safety Malachi Moore left Saturday's game against Wisconsin in the third quarter. He jogged off of the field after taking a hard hit. He went straight to the injury tent and stayed there for a few minutes before walking off the field with trainers and the FOX broadcast team announced that he would not return to the game.

Moore was injured on a play in the third quarter. Wisconsin was on a second-and-goal play, and Moore helped tackle running back Cade Yacamelli. However, after the play, Moore stayed down on the field for several moments before running off the field. He went to the medical tent before eventually leaving the field with trainers.
After the game, head coach Kalen DeBoer provided an injury update on Moore during his press conference on Monday. He told reporters:
“Malachi Moore got kind of hit to the head, blow to the head. He popped up and ran off the field. But I also know that there’s a protocol we kind of go through it. So a lot of positive signs there with him already here in his first couple of days. We just got to go through that progression that needs to be done when it comes to those type of injuries.”
Week 4 was a bye week for Alabama, so there has been extra time for Moore to recover from his injury. DeBoer will likely provide another update ahead of Alabama’s Week 5 game against Georgia.
Moore is one of the most important defenders on Alabama's roster, and his prolonged absence would be a serious hit to the team's defense. While the length of a potential absence is difficult to predict at this stage, the team would be weaker with him off the field.
Malachi Moore's status will be something to pay attention to during the week, and he will have to pass the concussion protocol before he can be cleared to play.
