What happened to Micah Morris? Exploring Georgia guard’s exit vs Florida Gators
The No.2 Georgia Bulldogs (6-1, 4-1 Southeastern Conference) suffered a scare after their offensive lineman, Micah Morris, went down injured against the Florida Gators (4-3,2-2) in Week 10. Thankfully, the injury doesn't appear to be too serious.
What happened to Micah Morris vs Florida?
In the first quarter, the Bulldogs had running back Nate Frazier Jr. run the ball on first down to move the chains. Morris tried to give him room to run by pushing Florida's linebacker Grayson Howard away. However, Florida edge rusher Jack Pyburn tackled Frazier Jr. from behind, causing the running back to fall on Morris's legs.
Morris briefly stayed on the field after the play, signaling he was hurt. He was able to hobble off the field and went to the sideline to get checked on. Georgia had offensive lineman Tate Ratledge check into the game to replace Morris as team doctors tried to determine the injury's severity.
Ratledge, a senior and three-year starter, returned for the first time since suffering a high ankle sprain that required surgery in Week 3 against Kentucky.
Morris returned to the game in the second quarter to assume his position from Ratledge.
Although he looked shaken up after getting hurt in the first quarter, he was still comfortable enough to remain on the field. His involvement could be a good sign of the severity of his injury because he is physically able to continue and wants to continue helping his offense.
The Bulldogs' staff will likely better understand the injury after the game to figure out how to help Morris recover.
Georgia Bulldogs overcome early offensive struggles to get the 34-20 win
The Bulldogs had a disappointing first half of the game trying to score against Florida's defense. Beck's turnovers were one factor in Georgia not getting the ball in the endzone early on, with two interceptions before halftime. Beck tried to regroup in the third quarter and get his offense moving down the field. Unfortunately, he would throw another interception again.
Georgia would turn the game around later in the third quarter, with Beck kicking the football toward Florida's endzone. Frazier Jr. would score on a run to tie the game 13-13. The Bulldogs then retook the lead through a Beck touchdown to Cash Jones.
Florida tied the game in the fourth quarter through a Jakobi Jackson rushing touchdown. But Georgia countered with two touchdowns in the final four minutes of the game to claim a 34-20 win.
