What happened to Will Howard? Exploring Ohio State QB going down on the field against Michigan
"The Game" is happening and it has been low-scoring in the first half. However, there was a major injury scare in the second quarter as Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Will Howard attempted to make a play with his legs on third-and-3. Howard ran to the left side of the formation and attempted to get the first down but was leveled by Michigan Wolverines defender Makari Paige on a completely legal hit. He stayed down on the field for a few minutes before heading to the sideline.
Backup QB Devin Brown entered the game to replace him and handed the ball off to running back Quinshon Judkins to get the first down on the fourth down play. The Wolverines then called a timeout and Will Howard was able to return and looked normal and like the hit never occurred.
Can the Ohio State Buckeyes win the Big Ten Conference Championship?
The No. 2-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes need to win against the Michigan Wolverines if they even want to make the Big Ten championship game, as their spot is not locked in. They are tied with the No. 10-ranked Indiana Hoosiers and No. 4-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions with a 10-1 (7-1 Big Ten) record, but the Buckeyes won head-to-head against both teams.
Four teams are battling for the two spots as the No. 1-ranked Oregon Ducks (11-0, 8-0) hold the top spot. If Ohio State wins against Michigan in Week 14, they clinch the second spot. The Buckeyes and Ducks faced each other on Oct. 12 in Eugene and that was Ohio State's only loss this season. Oregon won 32-31.
This game has been a tough battle so far but if Will Howard is healthy enough to play, it will boost the Buckeyes' chances of winning the Big Ten championship.
