Coming into this game, BYU coach Kalani Sitake has asked his team to play fundamental football irrespective of who is under center to make plays for the Cowboys.
"We gotta cover everything,” Sitake said via Pistols Firing's Marshall Scott. “I think they’re a really good coaching staff. You don’t just luck into playing for the conference championship last year. We have to be ready for all of it, but I think the key for us, going off of this last week, we made some mistakes that were not like us on defense.
"I think if just play assignment-sound football, focus on the fundamentals, the simple things that we can fix, I think that’ll put us in a better position for success, regardless of who the quarterback is," he added.
This comes after OSU's starting quarterback Alan Bowman was pulled out of two of the last three games.
Meanwhile, OSU coach Mike Gundy came into Monday's press conference with a bizarre eye injury. However, he held his opponent in high regard in his address ahead of the game.
“I had a higher opinion of BYU than what most people did because the last two or three years, BYU started the season 4-0, (4-1), and then they had injuries and had quarterback issues and a couple other things happen and fell off at the end of the season,” Gundy said via Stillwater News Press. “But they’ve had a good team in my opinion over the last three or four years.”
All that remains to be seen is if the Cougars' undefeated run continues.
