"What are y'all doing?": Stephen A Smith questions Travis Hunter-Leanna Lenee social media moves after Heisman ceremony backlashÂ
No. 23-ranked Colorado Buffaloes' two-way star Travis Hunter won the Heisman Trophy on Saturday. He won the award over Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, Miami QB Cam Ward,and Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel. However, since the ceremony, many people on social media criticized Hunter's relationship with his fiancee, Leanna Lenee.
Lenee received criticism for not standing when Hunter was announced as the Heisman Trophy winner. Since then, both Hunter and Lenee have taken to social media to defend their relationship.
On Thursday, analyst Stephen A. Smith posted a video on YouTube where he discussed the social media activity of Travis Hunter and Lenee (comments start at 0:10):
"For some reason these two young people feel the need to hit the social media air waves to defend their relationship in front of the world. I really don't get this. Leanna went to TikTok to explain why she didn't stand as the Heisman Trophy winner."
He then played the TikTok clip where Leanna explained herself. She explains that she did not get up initially because Hunter's mom stayed seated, so she was unsure if she should stand. She also discussed not wanting to get in the picture with Travis Hunter and Coach Prime. Smith added:
"What are y'all doing? Leanna what are you doing? Before I go any further on this subject, let me explain.
"She also went on to explain her actions following Colorado's last home name where fans wondered why she didn't seem to give him a hug. Then she explained to fans why she didn't respond to Travis when he first tried to holla via a DM."
He continued:
"As for Hunter, he also took to social media to defend his girlfriend, anding more fuel to the fire. He told fans she'd been crying herself to sleep because of comments made by internet users. What are y'all doing?"
Travis Hunter and Leanna Lenee have been together for five years
Travis Hunter has been in a relationship with Leanna Lenee for five years. He said on stream:
"I know what I got. I know my girl. My girl's been with me for five years. Y'all are just now starting to talk about me and just now starting to be with me. Come on, man."
The couple made their relationship public in February 2022 and got engaged earlier this year. Despite criticism from social media, they reportedly plan to get married next year.
