The Game will occur in Week 14 after weeks of anticipation from No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines. Ohio State and Michigan will compete in this year's matchup on Saturday at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes hope to have the final laugh after making fun of their rival in Week 11.
Ohio State (10-1, 7-1 Big Ten) comes into The Game on a five-game winning streak. In Week 13, the Buckeyes had a dominant 38-15 win at home over the No. 10 Indiana Hoosiers (10-1, 7-1). Quarterback Will Howard led Ohio State to victory with 22-of-26 completed passes for 201 yards and one touchdown. Although he gave up an interception in the second quarter, Indiana couldn't capitalize on the mistake to swing the momentum in their favor.
The Buckeyes got Michigan's (6-5, 4-4) attention during a halftime show in their matchup against the Purdue Boilermakers (1-10, 0-8) in Week 11 on Nov. 9. Ohio State's marching band took a dig at their rivals by forming a bear and symbolizing him defecating on Michigan's logo. The moment went viral on social media, creating intrigue for The Game this Saturday.
Michigan enters Week 14 following a 50-6 victory over the Northwestern Wildcats (4-7, 2-6) last Saturday. The Wolverines have had a rocky season that has resulted in them missing the College Football Playoffs. That said, they are eligible to compete in a bowl game and may have a chip on their shoulder to defeat Ohio State in the final matchup of the regular season.
What happened in The Game last year?
Ohio State has been unsuccessful in The Game for the last four years. In their last matchup, the Wolverines defeated the Buckeyes 30-24 on Nov. 25, 2023. Former Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy ended The Game with 16-of-20 completed passes for 148 yards and one touchdown.
Both teams have gone through a roster change, as Howard now leads the Buckeyes with Davis Warren getting the nod as the Wolverines' starting quarterback.
College Football Week 14: The Game Predictions
Ohio State comes into The Game having a better season than last year and seemingly has the talent to snap their losing streak this Saturday. Warren has completed 116 passes for 1,064 yards and six touchdowns this season. He has just one game this season where he has thrown two touchdowns.
Warren will need to be able to make plays and score for his team to help give Michigan a chance to win. That said, Ohio State's defense may be challenging for Warren to perform well against.
Meanwhile, Howard will have Jeremiah Smith, one of the best freshman wide receivers in the league, available for Saturday's contest. DraftKings has Ohio State as a massive -1800 favorite to be victorious against Michigan.
