Northwestern vs. Purdue game preview
Northwestern started the season on a positive note, beating Miami (OH) 13-6 and even dragging Duke to overtime before losing eventually. The Wildcats earned a blowout victory against Eastern Illinois, but have hit a snag since, going on a two-game losing streak before earning a 37-10 win over Maryland.
In the last two weeks, they have been taken down by Wisconsin and Iowa coming into this game. They'll need to at least win three of the four remaining games on schedule to be bowl-eligible.
Northwestern will rely on quarterback Jack Lausch to give it a win against a struggling program. Running back Cam Porter, who has rushed for 369 yards and five touchdowns, will need to find holes against the Boilermakers' secondary.
On the other end, Purdue has only won one game, a 49-0 blowout win against Indiana State in the season opener. Since then the program has been on a six-game losing streak, which also involved the close game against then-No. 23 Illinois, which it lost in overtime.
Last week, Oregon's defense didn't let the Boilermakers score even a single touchdown.
For the Boilermakers, the combination of quarterback Hudson Card and running back Devin Mockobee will be key. Card has thrown for 738 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions. Meanwhile, Mockobee has rushed for 510 yards and two TDs. He has also caught 10 receptions for 96 yards and one touchdown.
