What to expect in the Oklahoma vs. Navy game

The Oklahoma Sooners made the jump from the Big 12 Conference to the SEC this season and this will be their 26th consecutive bowl game appearance. For the Midshipmen, this is the first time that they made a bowl game under coach Brian Newberry, who grew up mere miles from the University of Oklahoma campus.

This game was expected to be a multiple-possession game as the Sooners opened as a nine-point favorite. However, as the game has gotten closer, the spread has shrunk and currently is sitting at 2.5 points. A big reason for the change is the fact that Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold has entered the NCAA transfer portal and signed with the Auburn Tigers.

The Midshipmen play a run-heavy offense and that is going to be intriguing as quarterback Blake Horvath only has attempted 127 passes throughout the course of the 12 games. This is the second time that these teams will play against one another, with the only other game being in 1965; Navy won 10-0.
