Yam Banks injury: What happened to Ole Miss DB?

Ole Miss’ Yam Banks was taken off the field in the Rebels’ Week 13 game against Florida. He suffered a sudden injury when he attempted to defend DJ Lagway’s eight-yard touchdown pass to Elijhah Badger and grabbed his left knee in visible pain.

The injury occurred in the first half of the game, leaving the Rebels vulnerable against the tenacious Gators.

There has been no official report on his injury but fans have speculated that it might be an ACL tear, the nightmare injury for athletes. For Banks, an ACL tear would be bad news as he has had a promising career thus far.

While playing for South Alabama, Banks put up incredible displays of athleticism. In 2022, he was tied for the second-most interceptions in the country, with six.

He transferred to Ole Miss and is currently in his first year with the team. He also racked up 147 tackles, a remarkable feat from the young athlete.

His addition to Ole Miss has been great for the team. Before Saturday’s game against Florida, he had accumulated 19 tackles, as well as three defended passes. Yam Banks is known for his versatility on the field as he plays multiple defensive positions for them.

Though the nature and severity of his injury is still in question, his team and fans will no doubt be excited to see him on the field again, whenever that transpires.

Ole Miss' playoff hopes dashed as Florida hands them 24-17 loss

The Ole Miss Rebels fell short against the Florida Gators on Saturday. With the playoffs in their sights, one would imagine that Ole Miss players were fired up for Saturday’s game.

However, things would take an undesirable turn as the Rebels were dealt an unexpected loss by the hungry Gators.

Ole Miss was not in their best form in this game. They left multiple opportunities unanswered and failed to make the most of their momentum.

They went 3-for-14 on third downs and 2-for-4 on fourth downs, and failed to score a red-zone touchdown. They also suffered injuries, with Tre Harris and Yam Banks going down in the first half of the game.

Ole Miss looked out of form for the first time since their loss to LSU. The result? The Rebels will have to say goodbye to their playoff hopes.

Their losses to Kentucky, LSU and now Florida have altered their path and forced them back to the drawing board. The question now is, without a goal to aim at, what will future games be like for Ole Miss? Time will tell.
