"You better ask Miss Terry": Nick Saban has hilarious reaction to best college football commissioner during SEC Media Days 2024

At the 2024 SEC Media Days this week, college football Insider Brett McMurphy from the Action Network asked Nick Saban if he would consider being a commissioner.

Saban, now an ESPN analyst, had a funny response, saying:

"You better ask Miss Terry."

The former Alabama head coach debuted as a college football analyst at the event. Nick and Terry Saban recently walked the red carpet at the ESPYs on July 12 in Los Angeles.

Saban was honored with the Icon Award, surrounded by former players and his wife, Terry. In his acceptance speech, he emphasized the importance of his wife’s support.

"Ms. Terry’s been the love of my life for 52 years, and she’s supported me in every way as my family has,” he said. “I certainly appreciate that because there’s a lot of sacrifices families make in coaching. We actually moved 17 times before we got to Alabama."

Nick Saban first met Terry at a science camp in West Virginia in seventh grade. He often speaks about how 'Miss Terry', the former 'First Lady' of Alabama football, guided him both on and off the field.

On the flip side, despite initially forgetting his credentials, Saban quickly retrieved it and joined the media contingent on Monday at the SEC Media Days. He shared his predictions, expecting Georgia and Texas to compete in the 2024 SEC Championship Game.

“I think Texas, if their defense comes through and they can replace some of the interior people they lost that were high draft picks and all that, they’re really good offensively... even though their quarterback has missed time."

Saban mentioned that QB Quinn Ewers has been out for a while over the past few years. He praised Arch Manning for his amazing performance in the spring game, where he completed 21 of 25 passes for 347 yards.

“That depth at quarterback is probably really important for them because Ewers has missed time the last couple years, a game or two, which could really affect where you end up,” Saban said. “So I really like Texas. I think Georgia’s got a really good team.

“But I believe in our Alabama team too – I believe in Jalen Milroe,” he said. “I just think the question marks in the secondary, until those get resolved, it’s hard to sort of jump on that bandwagon.”
