"You're gonna win this battle": Coach Prime extends support to Randy Moss as NFL legend opens up about fight with cancer
The football world was hit hard when Randy Moss revealed his battle with cancer on Friday. At just 47 years old, the Pro Football Hall of Famer shared his emotional journey. Thankfully, Moss has an army of supporters, including Colorado Buffaloes’ head coach and fellow Hall of Famer, Deion Sanders.
Deion, who played against Moss in the NFL, wasted no time showing support. On Friday, Coach Prime tweeted,
“Praying for you and your family my brother! Love ya man and I know you’re gonna win this battle as u always do. #CoachPrime.”
Their bond dates back to Moss’ iconic performance on Thanksgiving Day in 1998, where the Vikings wide receiver retorched the Dallas Cowboys for three touchdowns and 163 yards in just three catches.
Moss revealed his diagnosis during an Instagram Live session, wearing a “Team Moss—Let’s Moss Cancer” shirt. He shared that doctors discovered a mass in his bile duct between his pancreas and liver, requiring surgery. Moss assured fans, “I’m a cancer survivor,” and vowed to return to the "NFL Countdown" studio once he regains his health.
Fans were shocked by Moss stepping down as an ESPN analyst on Dec. 6. While he hinted at his health struggles on Dec. 1's "Sunday NFL Countdown," the full truth came later.
“I need all the prayer warriors. God bless you all and thanks for the prayers,” Moss said.
With Coach Prime and countless others cheering him on, “The Freak” is hell-bent on tackling this challenge head-on and coming out victorious.

Coach Prime had Randy Moss' 'back' when he stepped down as ESPN analyst
On Dec. 1, Randy Moss made an emotional revelation on screen ahead of "Sunday NFL Countdown." He opened up about his health struggles.
“Me and my family, we are battling something internally,” Moss shared.
“I couldn’t miss the show; I wanted to be here with you guys.” Despite the tough road ahead, he sounded optimistic. “I feel great… I need all the prayer warriors.”
Fans and colleagues responded with an outpouring of love. Coach Prime jumped into the mix, commenting:
"CLEAN"
Mike Greenberg and the Countdown crew seconded this sentiment. Greenberg declared, “If he’s wearing glasses, we’re all wearing glasses today,” as the crew joined in solidarity.
