"Your culture has your team thinking about cameras more than ball": Fans call out Deion Sanders for posting pictures of himself after terrible loss
Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes took a beating against the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday in their Week 2 college football matchup. Matt Rhule's unit ran the show from the get-go, winning the game 28-10. This led to many fans and analysts calling out the much-hyped-up program from Boulder.
On Sunday, a day after the loss, Sanders posted pictures on X from their time in Lincoln Field in Nebraska. This allowed fans to take a swipe at the former Super Bowl champion on social media.
Many took a dig at Colorado's football program for its focus on off-field stuff more than on results.
"It’s all about the cameras and not the winning," one fan wrote.
"Your culture has your team thinking about cameras more than ball," one fan commented.
"I hope you made every line man run today and tomorrow. Matter of fact make the whole team run the whole day with their annoying penalties love. Unacceptable!!!" one fan wrote.
"Gotta stop wearing that hoody, these teams are looking for you lol. Hunting and scalping the Buffs," another added.
"May Rhule owns you buddy," one wrote.
One X user cheekily referred to one of Sanders' preseason comments when the coach said their offensive line had improved. This was in contrast to Saturday's game, which saw Shedeur Sanders getting sacked multiple times.
"Congrats on the 'improved' line," the user wrote.
This isn't 'who we are,' says Deion Sanders after issue of pass protection remains
Deion Sanders started the 2023 season on a high note, winning three straight games before dropping eight of the next nine games, ending the season 4-8. During that stretch, the problem was the weak offensive line, unable to protect its signal caller, Shedeur Sanders.
This led to a complete overhaul of the position, but the situation resurfaced on Saturday. Shedeur couldn't get enough time to pass the ball with Nebraska's defensive line getting to him often. This led to him getting hurried for passes or getting sacked.
Deion Sanders said after the game:
"Knowing that we have a tremendous offense and can move the ball. We should be able to move the ball on anyone. We should be able to protect with the experience that we have offensively, and we just couldn't get it going today. We had some spurts and some great moments.
"I mean, we had some timing routes that we timed right up, but the way we started is just not indicative of who we are, and we just never got it together. I don't know if just, you know, sometimes you have those games. Sometimes you have those days, and it was just one of those games and days simultaneously. No excuses, though."
The win also ensured Nebraska ended the three-game streak the Colorado program had had over them since 2010.
