The irish-football" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-is-sponsored="false">Notre Dame Fighting Irish have been one of the premier teams in college football. The Notre Dame football season preview for 2024 will be interesting, as this program underwent massive changes this offseason.

They open the season as the seventh-ranked team and have some intriguing matchups as an independent program. Let's take a closer look at the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and figure out what they should be able to do this upcoming season.

Notre Dame's biggest games in the 2024 season

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish do not play a conference schedule, as they are an independent program. This year's schedule is not as tough on paper as some of the other seasons, but they have three teams that were also in the AP Preseason Poll, with two of them on the road. Here is the 2024 Notre Dame football schedule:

Notre Dame Home Games

  • 9/7: vs. Northern Illinois
  • 9/21: vs. Miami Ohio
  • 9/28: vs. Louisville
  • 10/12: vs. Stanford
  • 10/19: vs. Georgia Tech
  • 10/26: vs. Navy
  • 11/9: vs. Florida State
  • 11/16: vs. Virginia
  • 11/23: vs. Army

Notre Dame Road Games

  • 8/31: at Texas A&M
  • 9/14: at Purdue
  • 11/30: at USC

Key Notre Dame players to watch out for in the 2024 season

Riley Leonard, QB

After spending the last three seasons with the Duke Blue Devils, Riley Leonard decided to transfer to be the starting quarterback for the Fighting Irish. Last season, he dealt with injuries and struggled when on the field, as he was just 95-of-165 (57.6 percent) for 1,102 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions as well as 58 rushing attempts for 352 yards (6.1 yards per try) with four rushing touchdowns.

There is no reason to believe their injury will affect him this season, and he should be back to playing well and being a major factor for a winning program.

Jeremiyah Love, RB

Sophomore running back Love is ready to take that next step in the 2024 season. He finished last year with 56 carries for 346 yards (6.2 yards per attempt), with a rushing touchdown and seven receptions for 64 yards (9.1 yards per catch). With a full college football season under his belt, expect to see his touches increase to over 100 and for him to continue to be productive as a top running back for the program.

Benjamin Morrison, CB

Junior cornerback Benjamin Morrison has been one of the more productive secondary members in college football as he had 29 total tackles, a pair of interceptions and 10 pass deflections.

He will be asked to defend the opposing team's best wide receiver and has showcased throughout his collegiate career that he can perform at a high level.

Notre Dame prediction for the 2024 season

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a pretty easy schedule, and even with the change at the quarterback position, they should be in a great spot here. Expect the Fighting Irish to make the College Football Playoff with a double-digit-win season, as they have a better roster than almost all of their opponents this season.
