Notre Dame Prodigy drops hilarious reaction as Curt Cignetti rips Indiana's offense after playoff loss

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish were able to dominate in the first round of the College Football Playoff as they secured a 27-17 home win over the Indiana Hoosiers. The score is not indicative of how the game played out, as the Hoosiers struggled to move the football on a consistent basis.

With the Hoosiers trailing by 17 points in the fourth quarter, coach Curt Cignetti elected to punt the football instead of attempting to go for it on fourth down while down three possessions. He was asked about it after the game:

"We were doing nothing on offense. And our defense was fighting, that was the only positive I could draw."

Shuler has played well this season and has stepped up with 44 total tackles, one fumble recovery, three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), and four pass deflections, making him a prodigy as there is still room for improvement in his game.

Notre Dame was able to win and will play the Georgia Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals on Jan. 1.

Can the Notre Dame Fighting Irish win the College Football Playoff?

With the Notre Dame Fighting Irish winning the first-round matchup, they are in the field of eight teams remaining once the round is completed. However, they are not getting too much love in terms of the betting odds to win the national championship.

Below are the DraftKings odds for the national champion winner, as they have 10 teams posted as of this writing.

  1. Oregon Ducks (+350)
  2. Texas Longhorns (+360)
  3. Penn State Nittany Lions (+450)
  4. Ohio State Buckeyes (+500)
  5. Georgia Bulldogs (+500)
  6. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (+550)
  7. Tennessee Volunteers (+2200)
  8. Arizona State Sun Devils (+5500)
  9. Clemson Tigers (+6000)
  10. Boise State Broncos (+6500)

This shows that the sportsbooks are not too keen on the Fighting Irish doing enough to win the national championship this season. However, with Georgia quarterback Carson Beck expected to miss the quarterfinal game with an elbow injury, the Fighting Irish could be in a good position.

These teams are very similar to one another in terms of quality when looking at the top of the college football landscape. With the odds being where they are, throwing a few dollars at a team with a lot of momentum that looked sharp against a strong rush-defense team in Indiana is not a bad idea.
