“Old bitter man”: CFB fans left unimpressed with Paul Finebaum’s comments on Mike Norvell’s FSU ahead of 2024 CFB season

College football fans weren't too thrilled with Paul Finebaum's recent comments about Mike Norvell’s Florida State during a segment on ESPN’s "First Take". When asked which current top 10 teams might finish the season unranked, the ESPN analyst didn’t hold back.

He predicted that FSU would fall from the rankings, arguing, they have no business being in the top 10:

“Florida State. First of all, they have no business being in the top 10,” Finebaum said. “They have a difficult schedule… I think they used up too many tears crying about not getting in the playoffs, and that may slow them down a little bit this year.”

Finebaum’s blunt assessment didn't sit well with fans, and sparked some heated reactions:

“The old bitter man who never even played touch football, always talking down on every team,” a fan commented. “ESPN loves giving us goofs who just talk b.s. every single day. Reason I only watch games and not corny ESPN shows.”

Another fan wondered if Finebaum had ever even touched a football before:

One fan called Finebaum, “Paul is a certified yapper.”
“Death, taxes, and Paul Finebaum with terrible CFB takes,” another wrote.
“He’s been out here channeling his inner Skip Bayless the past few weeks,” a fan commented.
“Man did not hesitate or stutter,” one wrote.

According to Finebaum, FSU has a tough schedule with Miami and Notre Dame on the road in three weeks. Their quarterback is still a question mark as well, and they might be dragging from last year’s disappointment.
