"On my way to see my babies" - When Deion Sanders' ex-wife, Pilar Sanders, shared snippets from her first Colorado trip
Colorado coach Deion Sander's ex-wife, Pilar Sanders, has been a regular visitor in Boulder to support their three children (Shilo, Shedeur and Shelomi Sanders) as they embarked on their college football and basketball careers. Pilar has attended several of her children's games and documented them on her Instagram stories.
When the Sanders clan had just moved from Jackson State to Colorado, Pilar documented a trip that she took in 2023 before the season started to watch them play for the first time and posted the clip on her YouTube channel.
"My babies have been calling for me over and over literally every single day but mommy had to take care of some business," Pilar Sanders said. "On my way to see my babies. Had to jump on a craft, hadn't seen them in so long. I miss them so much. Oh, my gosh, I'm so excited to see my babies."
Pilar Sanders had an acrimonious divorce from Coach Prime
Coach Prime married Pilar Sanders in 1999 after getting divorced from his first wife, Carolyn Chambers, the previous year. The couple got divorced in 2013, and the details of the divorce dominated tabloid headlines for years as the pair battled for different reasons.
The first public issue involved custody. Coach Prime got custody of Shilo, Shedeur and Shelomi while Pilar got visitation. She was taken to court because she refused to return the children after one such visitation session, and when she accused Coach Prime of kicking and punching one of their sons, she was sued for defamation.
The kids also took sides with Coach Prime's eldest daughter by his first wife, Deiondra Sanders taking to X (then Twitter) to rant against Pilar for taking advantage of her father.
"Gold digging h*e," Deiondra tweeted. "#HowYouDidntKnow but your boxes have been packed for weeks now. HowYoTopPriorityBeen yo marriage and yo kids when u flying out to see other n**gas ... yeah we know."
During a 2022 episode of the "Second Shot" podcast, Pilar Sanders talked about how difficult the divorce was for her due to the couple's dirty laundry being aired out in public.
"Unfortunately, it was public, and it was made very public," Pilar Sanders said. "Again, I'm very private. Well, I didn't have a mic, so a lot of things, untruths made it to the media, and it's not like I had a way to fight back publicly, nor did I really want to.
"Because my focus was my and their safety, their mental health, their well-being and, of course, my mental health and well-being because being married for 13 years, you're focused on your husband."
Since the divorce, Pilar Sanders and Coach Prime seem to have found common ground as she attends games in Boulder to support her sons and her daughter when she played for the Lady Buffs before transferring to the Alabama A&M Bulldogs.
