Oregon Starting QB (Week 9): Who will start for Dan Lanning's team against Illinois?

The No. 1 Oregon Ducks will attempt to keep their win streak alive in a Week 9 home game against the No. 20 Illinois Fighting Illini at Autzen Stadium. Oregon coach Dan Lanning will have Dillion Gabriel in his usual position as the starting quarterback.

The Ducks (7-0, 4-0 Big Ten) come into Saturday's matchup with momentum after a dominant 35-0 victory over the Purdue Boilermakers (1-6, 0-4) in Week 8. Gabriel completed 21 of 25 passes for 290 yards and two touchdowns. Although he threw an interception, Oregon's defense stifled Purdue all game long.

Gabriel is having a great season, with 2,080 yards and 15 touchdowns passing. He's also tossed only four interceptions. In addition to his passing ability, the Ducks' starting quarterback can be a threat if he uses his legs and has four rushing touchdowns.

Oregon has been able to dominate opposing teams offensively and win decisively. Lanning will look for Gabriel and the rest of the offense to overwhelm Illinois (6-1, 3-1) to remain unbeaten on Saturday.

A look at the depth chart for the Oregon Ducks

Gabriel comes into Week 9 healthy and is expected to start. Oregon has five backup quarterbacks in case of an emergency. One of the notable players who could be the second option is Dante Moore, a former UCLA Bruins quarterback. However, the Ducks' offensive line has done well protecting Gabriel and should be ready for the upcoming game.
