Penn State Transfer Portal: Top recruited Nittany Lion athletes to watch out for
As Penn State prepares to move on to a second-round battle with Boise State, the Nittany Lions have some more good news. While the transfer portal is mostly a distraction for teams involved in the College Football Playoff like Penn State, it gives as well as takes.
Given that Penn State's portal situation has been pretty silent, there's not a ton of room to add new players. But the Nittany Lions, who have had just four players enter the portal, have managed to add a pair of portal commitments to their roster for next season. Here's a deeper dive into the pair of new Nittany Lions.
Penn State Transfer Portal: 2 new athletes coming to PSU
Enai White, DE
White will transfer in from Texas A&M. A 6-foot-5, 245-pound prospect, White hails from Philadelphia, which might account for his choosing to resurface with the Nittany Lions. Out of high school, he was a high four-star prospect, with 247sports ranking him as the 38th best player in the entire nation in the 2022 recruiting class.
White was the second-highest-ranked player in Pennsylvania that season. Aside from A&M, he made official visits to Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. White took multiple unofficial visits to Penn State but ultimately elected for a slate of SEC schools as his recruiting finalists.
At Texas A&M, White has had a minimal on-field impact. In three seasons, he has played in 13 games with just 11 total tackles, including three tackles for loss and a pair of sacks. As he played in just one game in 2024, he'll be able to use the season as a redshirt year and will have two seasons to play at Penn State.
Kyron Hudson, WR
Hudson is a veteran wide receiver transfer from USC. A 6-foot-1 target, Hudson is an experienced pass catcher who should add immediate impact to Penn State's offense. Hudson was a four-star recruit out of high school.
Hudson was part of the 2021 recruiting class. He didn't take any official visits. Penn State did offer him a scholarship, but Hudson committed first to Oregon and then later to USC.
In four seasons at USC, Hudson steadily played a larger role. In total, he caught 72 passes for 807 yards and eight touchdowns. Hudson contributed 38 of those catches in 2024. Hudson did play in just one game in 2021, so he was able to redshirt that season.
Hudson will have a single year of eligibility at Penn State. His ability to work in the middle of the field for tough yards should help him see immediate playing time at Penn State.
