Purdue vs Michigan State: Preview

Purdue is a 13.5-point underdog on the road, with the over/under set at 48 points.

The Boilermakers have not been playing well, as they won their first game but have lost nine games in a row. Purdue's offense and defense have been an issue all season long.

"The talent is there," said senior linebacker Kydran Jenkins, via Purdue Exponent. "Talent-wise, we got the players, they know what to do. But at the end of the day, you have to execute."

Purdue coach Ryan Walters, meanwhile, said he needs to evaluate everything and try to make the Boilermakers a better program.

"You gotta evaluate the roster in its entirety and identify who we can't let walk out the door," Walters said in a postgame interview, referring to the transfer portal. "We have learned from that as a program."

Purdue is led by Hudson Card, who's thrown for 1,264 yards, eight touchdowns and five interceptions. Devin Mockobee has rushed for 652 yards and three touchdowns, while Max Klare leads the way with 566 yards and three touchdowns.

Defensively, Purdue is led by Kyndrich Breedlove, who has three interceptions, while Kydan Jenkins has 5.5 sacks.

Michigan State, meanwhile, needs to win its last two games to become bowl-eligible and is coming off the loss to Illinois.

“It's very important. We want to win. To go out on a high note, that's kind of what we want to do,” said Montorie Foster Jr., who led the Spartans with six catches and 76 receiving yards against the Illini, via Detroit Free Press. “The plan doesn't change. We're coming together, we gotta stick together and just keep continuing to work. That's all it is.
“I pretty much got just a team goal. I want to make a bowl game, so that's my main focus. Whatever I have to do.”

The Spartans are led by Aidan Chiles, who's thrown for 2,106 yards, 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Kay'Ron Lynch Alexander has rushed for 495 yards and three touchdowns.

Michigan State needs to win its final two games to be bowl-eligible, so expect the Spartans to come out strong here and cruise to a lopsided win to get a much-needed win.

Prediction: Michigan State 28, Purdue 10
