Cam Coleman transfer portal: 5 landing spots for Auburn WR if he leaves the program ft. Ole Miss, Penn State
It has been a tough year for the Auburn Tigers and receiver Cam Coleman. The Tigers are among the bottom teams in the SEC, and while the freshman wide receiver is second in the team in yards, he has only amassed 30 catches for 520 yards and seven touchdowns coming into the Iron Bowl.
Coleman hit his stride late, as the Phenix City, Alabama native logged consecutive 100-yard games vs UL Monroe and Texas A&M in November, by far his best performances of the season. Still, with an Auburn program in flux, could the talented pass catcher look elsewhere for 2025?
Cam Coleman transfer portal landing spots
#1. Ole Miss Rebels
If there’s a team losing considerable talent at wide receiver this year, that is the Ole Miss Rebels. Three of their top 4 wide receivers are seniors, including the team leader in receptions and yards, Tre Harris, leaving Cayden Lee as the only wideout with over three receptions this year on the roster for 2025. Their performance and chemistry with Jaxson Dart helped the team rank third in passing yards per game.
Five-star recruit Caleb Cunningham has committed to the Rebels already, while Ayden Williams and Noreel White should see an increase in playing time. Cam Coleman would fit right into a system that sees high production from the wide receiver position year after year.
#2. Penn State Nittany Lions
While Penn State is ranked in the top 20 in total offense, it is mainly because of their proficiency running the football. The Nittany Lions average 253.2 passing yards a game, 40th in the nation. Also, their leading receiver is tight end Tyler Warren. Their top wideout, Harrison Wallace III has 35 receptions for 579 yards and three touchdowns, not exactly Biletnikoff Award numbers.
The Nittany Lions offense prefers to keep the ball on the ground, but having a threat on the outside would make their offense much more dangerous than it currently is and Cam Coleman’s speed would be a perfect fit.
#3. South Carolina Gamecocks
Although the Gamecocks finished the season strong, their passing offense was among the worst in the SEC, ranking 11th in the conference (69th in the Nation) in passing yards per game.
With a year under his belt, freshman quarterback LaNorris Sellers could make a leap forward, but needs reliable pass catchers. Their leading receiver is tight end Joshua Simon, while their top wideout is fellow freshman Mazeo Bennett, with 28 receptions for 324 yards and three touchdowns. Cam Coleman could inject some life to the passing game and become a reliable target for Sellers.
#4. Georgia Bulldogs
A lot like Ole Miss, the Bulldogs will also see their two leading receivers leave after the season. Georgia does have some talent and experience in Dillon Bell and London Humphreys, who have combined for 52 receptions and 677 yards, but playing time in their young receiving corps seems up for grabs.
In Georgia, Cam Coleman would also be working with one of the most consistent offenses in the last few years and a perennial title contender. Would he be willing to switch sides in the rivalry?
#5. Tennessee Volunteers
Yet another SEC team with leaving top receivers. Tennessee, however, did struggle to get production from the passing game, ranking 63rd in the nation in passing yards per game. Squirrel Brown figures to be the leading receiver coming back to Knoxville for 2024, but with 33 receptions for 364 yards, his numbers fall short in comparison to Coleman’s.
Working with fellow freshman Nico Imalaeva could also be enticing to Cam Coleman, as they could develop side by side during their time in Knoxville. Imalaeva has been solid this year and would give Coleman a consistent passer to work with.
