Jadon Canady Transfer Portal: Exploring Top 5 landing spots for Ole Miss CB ft. LSU
After two years in Oxford, defensive Jadon Canady will enter the transfer portal. The Jacksonville, Florida native has one more year of eligibility left and could be playing for his third team in 2025.
Canady had a career-best 11 pass breakups and 38 tackles in 2024. He has 115 tackles, 17 passes defended and two interceptions during his four-year career. He played two years at Tulane before transferring to the Ole Miss Rebels.
His exit leaves the Rebels secondary in flux as AJ Brown and Key Lawrence also joined the transfer portal. Their entire starting secondary from Day 1 is senior. These are five spots who could benefit from landing Jadon Canady.
Top 5 Landing Spots for Ole Miss CB Jadon Canady
#5. Arizona State Sun Devils
Despite making the College Football Playoff, the Sun Devils will lose some players in the transfer portal, including Cole Martin, Keontez Bradley and LT Welch. Kenny Dillingham is an expert at reloading through the portal.
Canady can come in and plug a hole at cornerback and keep the team in the fight for the Big 12 title next year. Finishing his college career in Tempe could also be a good move for the cornerback.
#4. Kansas Jayhawks
The Kansas Jayhawks lost two corners to graduation in Cobee Bryant and Mello Dotson. While the Jayhawks weren’t sound on passing defense, the departures could hurt the unit even more in 2025.
Like many other teams in need of secondary help, Kansas has already taken their first steps. They got commitments from DJ Graham and Jahlil Hurley.
The Jayhawks could compete for the conference title next year. Adding another solid cornerback in Canady should help them inch closer to that goal.
#3. USC Trojans
After finishing the season ranked No.78 against the pass, the Trojans need to get stronger on the back end of the defense. They already got a commitment from DJ Harvey, but there is still work to be done.
Jaylin Smith, Jacobe Convington, Greedy Vance and John Humphry are all in their last year of eligibility. USC will lose a lot of experience as they adjust to life in the Big Ten.
The Trojans landed the nation’s No. 1 cornerback out of high school in RJ Sermons. While he can take a spot on the outside, having a good nickel corner like Jadon Canady should help in 2025.
#2. Texas A&M Aggies
The Aggies have had trouble filling in their secondary for years. In 2024, they allowed 238.5 yards per game, 90th in the nation. Their top two nickel corners, Jaydon Hill and BJ Mayes, have ended their eligibility.
Julian Humphrey is coming over from Georgia, but they could still use more bodies. Jadon Canady can fill the gap at nickel back in College Station for one year while the Aggies look for long-term options in the secondary.
#1. LSU Tigers
The Tigers got some notable prospects to commit, including DJ Pickett, Aidan Anding and Jacob Bradford. All three players should eventually contribute, but defensive backs usually need time to adapt to the college level.
Jadon Canady has only a year of eligibility left, so he could help take the nickel back spot while the younger guys develop. His four years of experience could also help bring some leadership to the group.
LSU is known as “Defensive Back U”, so the junior could also polish his game in that final season in college.
