Key South Carolina players to watch out for in the 2024 season
#1. Debo Williams, MLB
Middle linebacker Debo Williams has found a way to be involved throughout the 2023 season for the South Carolina Gamecocks as he had 113 total tackles with a sack, fumble recovery, and a pair of pass deflections. His defense has a chance to be solid in the SEC and it will begin with Williams being able to get to the football and dominate as he has proven to do.
#2. Nick Emmanwori, SS
Safety Nick Emmanwori is also looking to do well on the defensive side of things for the Gamecocks this season. He had his nose toward the ball in 2023 as he finished with 71 total tackles, a pair of interceptions, and eight pass deflections. Emmanwori can do well in coverage and help make this secondary a lot better. He will be challenged but is one of the best players on this South Carolina defense.
#3. LaNorris Sellers, QB
LaNorris Sellers is ready to take over the starting quarterback role after Spencer Rattler left for the NFL draft.
However, Sellers rarely saw action during his freshman season where he finished completing all four of his passes for 86 yards with a pair of passing touchdowns while also tallying five carries for 51 yards (10.2 yards per attempt) with a rushing touchdown. Sellers' ability to extend plays with his legs is going to make the Gamecocks offense a lot better.
South Carolina prediction for the 2024 season
The South Carolina Gamecocks have some solid talent but its schedule is too difficult to navigate. With a four-game span of Ole Miss, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M, there is not going to be any fight for them. This is going to be tough but the prediction for the 2024 South Carolina Gamecocks is that they become the worst team in the SEC as even the Vanderbilt Commodores can secure more wins during the season.
