TCU bowl projections after Week 13: Exploring Horned Frogs' postseason chances
The TCU Horned Frogs beat the Arizona Wildcats 49-28 in Week 13 to improve to 7-4 overall, and 5-3 in Big 12 play. It marked their second consecutive win against a conference opponent and fourth in five games.
While the Horned Frogs have had an up-and-down season and failed to enter the AP Top 25 Poll, their recent stretch allowed them to clinch bowl eligibility. As per rules, FBS teams must finish with at least six wins and a winning percentage of at least .500 to earn bowl eligibility, with only one win against an FCS opponent counting towards those numbers.
Take a look at which bowl game the Horned Frogs could play in below:
TCU bowl projections after Week 13: Exploring Horned Frogs' postseason chances
The TCU Horned Frogs are bowl eligible, as they sit at 7-4 following their Week 13 blowout victory over the Arizona Wilcats, but they locked up their bowl eligibility in Week 11.
The Horned Frogs began the season with a victory over the Stanford Cardinal before blowing out the FCS-level LIU Sharks to improve to 2-0.
The good times came to a quick halt, though, as they suffered a 35-34 loss to the UCF Knights to begin Big 12 play. The defeat was especially crushing because they had led 28-7 in the second half and 31-20 in the fourth quarter. TCU was unable to bounce back as it suffered a blowout loss to the SMU Mustangs in Week 4.
They returned to the win column the next week, knocking off the Kansas Jayhawks. The Horned Frogs followed that up with a loss to the Houston Cougars before picking up back-to-back victories over the Utah Utes and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
TCU suffered another close loss in a conference game, as it fell to the Baylor Bears. It has bounced back with wins against the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Arizona Wildcats. The Horned Frogs conclude their regular season schedule in Week 14 against the Cincinnati Bearcats.
The most common projection is that TCU will wind up in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, which will take place at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee on Dec. 27. That's subject to change, though, based on the outcomes over the final week of the regular season.
