Texas vs. UTSA football history: H2H, Records, and more ahead of Week 3 CFB Matchup

The Texas Longhorns welcome the UTSA Roadrunners on Saturday for Week 3 of college football at Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas. The Longhorns come into the clash on the back of an impressive win in Week 2 over the No. 17 Michigan Wolverines 31-12, cementing Steve Sarkisian's men as national title contenders.

The Roadrunners, for their part, come from their first defeat of the year, at the hands of the Texas State Bobcats who defeated them 49-10.

In the win over the Wolverines, quarterback Quinn Ewers threw for 246 yards, with three touchdown passes. Gunnar Helm was his top weapon, recording 98 receiving yards and catching one touchdown in seven receptions.

They also put a good committee effort in the running game, with 143 yards versus Michigan's 80. They were also highly efficient on third down, completing 10 of 16 such opportunities.

The Roadrunners had a bad game in Week 2, with signal-caller Eddie Lee Marbuger throwing for only 147 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Owen McCown also took some snaps for UTSA, recording 105 passing yards.

Bobcats' Jordan McCloud had 309 passing yards, two touchdowns, and an interception for the Bobcats. Overall the Roadrunners could only muster 82 rushing yards, to Texas State's 195.

Texas vs. UTSA series head-to-head

The Longhorns and the Roadrunners have only met once in their history, with Texas running away with a 41-20 win. The game was played on September 17, 2022.

Hudson Card started at quarterback for Texas, throwing for 161 yards with one touchdown that day. Frank Harris was the signal-caller for UTSA and threw for 222 yards, with no touchdowns and an interception.

Running back Bijan Robinson was the difference maker for the Longhorns that day, recording 183 rushing yards and three touchdowns that day.

UTSA hasn't had a good time when facing other schools from the state of Texas either. Overall they are 35-21 and 15-5 under current coach Jeff Taylor.
