Top 10 FCS quarterbacks entering Week 6 of college football Ft. Cam Miller
Great college quarterbacks aren't just a phenomenon of FBS football. FCS teams also boast their own able signal callers. While these passers might not get as much publicity as FBS stars, they're still outstanding collegiate QBs.
Here's a closer look at 10 of the FCS's best QBs ahead of Week 6.
Top 10 FCS quarterbacks entering Week 6
#10. Mark Gronowski, South Dakota State
One of the most talented passers in college football, Gronowski won the Walter Payton Award last season and is approaching 9,000 career passing yards and 80 touchdowns in his career. He has struggled at times in 2024, with just 755 passing yards and six touchdowns against five interceptions, but Gronowski will come through when the chips are down.
#9. Kekoa Visperas, Eastern Washington
A 6-foot junior, Visperas is putting up big numbers for Eastern Washington. Through five games, he is completing 73% of his passes for 1,076 yards and 10 touchdowns with no interceptions. He has also rushed for two scores and even caught a pass. Visperas continues to impress for EWU.
#8. Sam Vidlak, Stephen F. Austin
A junior transfer from Montana, Vidlak has had an outstanding 2024 season. In just four games, he has already passed for 929 yards and 12 touchdowns. Vidlak is second in FCS football in touchdowns and has managed to only throw two interceptions. He's been a star at SFA in 2024.
#7. Maverick McIvor, Abilene Christian
McIvor is a 6-foot-2 graduate student who has improved every year at Abilene Christian. He opened 2024 with 506 yards and three touchdowns against P5 Texas Tech. For the year, McIvor has passed for 1,606 yards (second in FCS) and 11 touchdowns against just two interceptions.
#6. Tommy Mellott, Montana State
A true dual-threat QB, the 6-foot Mellott leads one of FCS's top teams. This season, Mellott has thrown for 857 yards and eight touchdowns with no interceptions. Meanwhile, he's rushed for another 210 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. He's a dual-threat maestro.
#5. Jacob Clark, Missouri State
A 6-foot-5 transfer from Minnesota, Clark is having an excellent season. Through five games, Clark has thrown for 1,530 yards and 10 touchdowns against just two interceptions. Clark is in the top ten in FCS in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and passing efficiency.
#4. Derek Robertson, Monmouth
A 6-foot-2 senior, Robertson transferred in from Maine. Already this year, he got a rematch with his old school and crushed them with 390 passing yards and four touchdowns. For the year, Robertson's 1,676 yards lead the FCS as does his 14 touchdowns. He opened the season with 355+ passing yards in each of the first four games.
#3. D.J. Smith, Mercer
A 6-foot-2 JUCO transfer, Smith has shined right away at Mercer. He is completing 77% of his passes with 981 yards and eight touchdowns against five interceptions. Smith has rushed for an additional 167 yards and three more scores on the ground. He has yet to complete less than 70.6% of his passes in any game this season.
#2. Jameson Wang, Cornell
A 6-foot-1 passer from California, Wang has only played in two games because of Cornell's late start. For the uninitiated, Ivy League teams don't play in the playoffs, so Wang's season started late, but will finish early. In his first two games, Wang has completed 71% of his passes for 591 yards, seven touchdowns with no interceptions.
#1. Cam Miller, North Dakota State
The senior passer leads one of the top offenses in the nation. Miller has completed 78.3% of his passes this season, passing for 1,143 yards and nine touchdowns. Miller is averaging right at 10 yards per pass attempt and leads FCS football in passer efficiency.
