Top 10 highest-rated players in EA College Football 25 after recent update ft. Travis Hunter
As college football rolls on, EA Sports is taking close notice of their College Football 25 game. The player ratings assigned before the season have gotten a significant adjustment. With some new movement being noted, here are the top 10 players in the game, with any shifts in their overall ratings noted below.
Top 10 players in EA Sports College Football 25 after ratings changes
#10. Caleb Downs (95 overall)
A safety transfer from Alabama, Downs was a preseason 95-rated player who hasn't moved. In full disclosure, there are a handful more 95-rated players, but the list focuses on those who had movement in their rating. Downs didn't, but he's doing a solid job. Downs has 15 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a pass broken up for Ohio State.
#9. James Pearce, Jr. (95 overall)
Pearce is another of the 95-rated players whose rating didn't change. That may have been a kindness because the pass-rushing star has been near MIA for the Vols this season. In four games, Pearce has three total tackles, with 0.5 sacks. He does have five QB hurries, so a better second half of the season is probable.
#8. Ollie Gordon (95 overall, -1)
Gordon was the third-highest-rated player in the game, but he dropped a rating point to 95. Gordon has 334 rushing yards on 88 carries and hasn't topped 76 rushing yards since Week 1. His 3.8 yards per carry are a drastic drop from last year's 6.1 ypc. If Gordon doesn't improve, he'll probably drop even further.
#7. Jay Higgins (95 overall, +1)
The Iowa linebacker got a rating boost up to 95. Through four games, Higgins has 34 tackles and a pair of interceptions. He also has two passes broken up, a QB hurry and a fumble forced. Higgins remains a havoc-maker.
#6. Tetairoa McMillan (95 overall, +1)
Now the game's highest-ranked true receiver (not counting Hunter because of his two-way game), McMillan is a star. In four games, he has 29 catches for 503 yards and four touchdowns. The 6-foot-5 playmaker could continue to improve-- in real life and on College Football 25.
#5. Kelvin Banks (95 overall, +1)
Texas tackle Banks got a ratings bump to 95. Texas is scoring 45.0 points per game, and Banks certainly earns part of the credit for that performance. In five games, Texas has allowed just five sacks. Banks is a likely All-American and EA Sports respected his skills.
#4. Will Campbell (96 overall)
Campbell, an LSU tackle, kept his 96 overall rating. The Tigers are scoring 35.2 points per game and have allowed just two sacks in five games. Campbell will be a top draft pick and is one of the best players in the nation, which EA recognized by protecting his 96 overall rating in College Football 25.
#3. Ashton Jeanty (96 overall, +4)
Boise State back Jeanty was the game's big ratings gainer, jumping to this rating. In four games, Jeanty has rushed for 845 yards and 13 touchdowns. With two 250+ yard games and three 3+ TD games, Jeanty is playing like the video game All-Star that EA Sports decided that he is.
#2. Will Johnson (97 overall, +1)
Michigan's corner remains a player to respect, if not fear. Johnson has 11 tackles, a pair of pick-sixes and has broken up three other passes. He remains a lockdown corner, and EA Sports gave Johnson a +1 boost to make him the second-best player in college football.
#1. Travis Hunter (97 overall, +2)
Travis Hunter's two-point ratings jump makes him the best player in College Football 25. A top wideout, in five games, Hunter has 46 catches for 561 yards and six scores. Meanwhile, he's also an outstanding defensive back. He has 16 tackles, a pair of interceptions and he broke up three more passes. Hunter is indeed the marquee star of Colorado, college football and College Football 25.
