Top 10 offensive transfers to watch out for in the 2024 college football season ft. Dillon Gabriel

The college football transfer portal was extremely busy during the offseason as a large number of players found new teams for the 2024 season. Many programs are bringing in players they hope can be the pieces needed to compete for a championship.

With the start of the 2024 college football season just over a month away, here is a look at 10 of the top offensive transfers to watch out for.

Top 10 offensive transfers to watch out for in the 2024 college football season

#10 QB Jordan McCloud, Texas State

Quarterback Jordan McCloud will be a huge boost for the Texas State Bobcats offense that ranked 11th in the country with 36.7 points per game. McCloud spent two seasons with South Florida before transferring to Arizona in 2021 and James Madison in 2023.

He was the Sun Belt Player of the Year last season, throwing for 3,657 yards and adding 276 yards rushing with 43 total touchdowns.


#9 RB Quali Conley, Arizona

San Jose State transfer Quali Conley will join a loaded Arizona backfield after finishing with 1,111 all-purpose yards and nine touchdowns last season. He ranked fourth in the Mountain West last season with a career-high 6.4 yards per carry.

Conley spent three seasons at Utah Tech, where he totaled 1,758 rushing yards. He transferred to San Jose State in 2023 and will now join the Arizona Wildcats for the 2024 college football season.


#8 QB Chandler Rogers, California

Quarterback Chandler Rogers has been a bit of a journeyman throughout his college football career. He redshirted his freshman season at Southern Miss before moving to Blinn for the 2020 season.

He transferred to UL Monroe for two seasons before entering the transfer portal and playing the 2023 season with North Texas.

Rogers will now join the Cal Golden Bears and compete for the starting job after finishing the 2023 season with 3,382 yards, 29 touchdowns and five interceptions.


#7 WR Elijah Sarratt, Indiana

Junior wideout Elijah Sarratt will be moving to Indiana for the 2024 college football season after one season at Saint Francis (Pa.) and one season at James Madison. The 6-2 receiver finished last season with 82 receptions for 1,191 yards and eight touchdowns.


#6 QB Tyler Van Dyke, Wisconsin

Tyler Van Dyke will be transferring to Wisconsin for the 2024 college football season following four seasons with the Miami Hurricanes. Van Dyke started 25 games for Miami and was the 2021 ACC Rookie of the Year.

He led the ACC with a 65.8 completion percentage in 2023 and finished his time in Miami throwing for a total of 7,469 yards and 54 touchdowns.


#5 RB Jonah Coleman, Washington

Jonah Coleman is expected to take over as Washington's lead-back after leading Arizona in rushing last season. Coleman spent the last two seasons with the Wildcats and ran for 1,243 yards and nine touchdowns. He is a proven threat in the pass game, finishing the 2023 college football season with 283 yards receiving and one touchdown.

#4 RB Peny Boone, UCF

It's been a busy offseason for former Maryland and Toledo running back Peny Boone. He entered the transfer portal in late December before committing to Louisville in early January. He re-entered the transfer portal in mid-April and would ultimately commit to UCF on May 1.

Boone tallied 1,400 yards on the ground last season with 15 touchdowns and was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Year.


#3 RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Arizona

Jacory Croskey-Merrit is a veteran college football tailback who spent four seasons at Alabama State before transferring to New Mexico last season. He now joins a stacked Arizona backfield following his career-high 1,190-yard season in 2023. He added 17 touchdowns on the ground and was named second-team All-Mountain West.


#2 WR CJ Daniels, LSU

LSU will enter the 2024 college football season without their top two receivers from the previous season. They may have found a suitable replacement to add to their receiving core in Liberty transfer CJ Daniels.

Daniels played four seasons with the Liberty Flames and finished last season with a team-high 55 receptions for 1,067 yards. He will join an LSU program that has developed some of the top receivers who have gone on to shine in the NFL. This includes Odell Beckham Jr., Justin Jefferson and Ja'Marr Chase.


#1 QB Dillon Gabriel, Oregon

Dillon Gabriel will head to Eugene to take over the offense after the departure of Bo Nix to the NFL. Gabriel began his college football journey at UCF, where he spent three seasons before transferring to Oklahoma in 2022.

Gabriel has plenty of experience to lead the Ducks offense with 50 appearances and 14,865 career passing yards. He led the Big 12 in completion percentage and passing touchdowns last season on his way to earning first-team All-Big 12 honors.
