Top 10 QBs to watch out for in Week 8 of college football ft. Jalen Milroe
Featuring a group of big-time college QBs, Week 8 could be a massive showcase. Quinn Ewers, Carson Beck, Jalen Milroe and others have a chance to make their statements for Heisman and CFP candidacy. Here are the top 10 passers to watch in Week 8.
Top 10 QBs to watch in Week 8
#10 Thomas Castellanos, Boston College
Castellanos has been a surprise for the Eagles. He missed one game with injury but has completed 67% of his passes while throwing for 983 yards and 12 touchdowns.
He ranks fifth nationally in QB rating and should be ready for his Thursday night showdown with Virginia Tech.
#9 Joe Fagnano, UConn
Expected to split snaps with transfer Nick Evers, Fagnano has quietly put together an impressive season. His 999 yards and 11 touchdowns are amazing, as he has only been responsible for 60 percent of the UConn pass attempts this season.
His 10.2 yards per attempt is particularly impressive, as is UConn's surprising 4-2 record.
#8 Chandler Morris, North Texas
A transfer from TCU, Morris is putting up some massive numbers for the Mean Green. He's seventh nationally with 1,979 passing yard and his 20 touchdown passes ties for the best in FBS.
Morris has had two 400+ yard passing games. The 5-1 Mean Green have a big game at 5-1 Memphis this week.
#7 Shedeur Sanders, Colorado
The most-talked about QB in college football continues to have an excellent season. With 2,018 passing yards, Sanders is one of five FBS QBs to eclipse 2,000 yards. His 17 touchdowns to four interceptions is also impressive. Colorado plays at Arizona this weekend.
#6 Diego Pavia, Vanderbilt
A transfer from New Mexico State, Pavia is a dual-threat star who makes big plays. In six games, Pavia has thrown for 1,116 yards and 10 touchdowns against just one interception.
He has added 388 yards and two more scores on the ground and has Vandy is a bowl hunt after taking down Alabama. Pavia plays Ball State this week.
#5 Carson Beck, Georgia
Beck has had a mildly disappointing season but could turn it around against Texas. He has thrown for 1,818 yards and 15 scores but has tossed up five interceptions and has yet to top 10 yards per pass attempt in any game.
Discovering the big play against Texas could change the narrative of the season, though.
#4 Cam Ward, Miami
Ward entered the season with a reputation as a big-time passer from his Washington State days, and he's doing nothing to disspell it.
He has 2,219 yards and 20 touchdowns as the Hurricanes are 6-0. Ward ties for first in the nation in TD passes, is second in passing yardage and is third in QB rating. The Heisman candidate plays at Louisville on Saturday.
#3 Quinn Ewers, Texas
Ewers has split snaps with Arch Manning due to injury, but Saturday's game with Georgia is his chance to let his experience shine. He's been fine this year with 890 passing yards and nine touchdowns but could go to another level against the Bulldogs.
#2 Kurtis Rourke, Indiana
A transfer from Ohio University, Rourke has been a star for the Hoosiers. He's the national leader in QB rating.
Rourke has completed 73.8% of his passes, throwing for 1,752 yards and 14 scores. Indiana is 6-0 under his leadership and plays Nebraska this week at home, with both teams coming back from off weeks.
#1 Jalen Milroe, Alabama
The battle-tested Alabama veteran keeps cruising. Milroe has passed for 1,483 yards and 12 touchdowns and is second nationally in QB rating, while his 11.2 yards per passing attempt tops the nation.
Milroe's 319 rushing yards and 11 scores on the ground would help, as Alabama has a massive matchup at Tennessee.
