Top 10 wide receivers to watch out for in Week 8 of college football ft. Ryan Williams
Collegiate wide receivers are certain to stay busy in Week 8. As high-octane offenses continue to try to make the case for a spot in the College Football Playoff, receivers are putting up big plays. While several top offenses are off this week, here are 10 receivers to watch in Week 8.
Top 10 wide receivers to watch in Week 8
10. Skyler Bell, UConn
A 6-foot-tall junior who came to UConn from Wisconsin, Bell was quiet in UConn's last game against Temple, but has had a nice season. Bell has 22 catches for 508 yards and four touchdowns. He and the Huskies will face Wake Forest this weekend.
9. Jalen Royals, Utah State
A star with 71 grabs for 1,080 yards last year, Royals chose to stay at Utah State. The 6-foot-tall junior has continued to be productive, with 44 catches for 646 yards and five touchdowns. Royals has three straight 100-plus yard games and will face New Mexico this week.
8. Tez Johnson, Oregon
The 5-foot-10 Oregon standout is following up on his 2023 campaign which included 86 catches for 1,182 yards. Johnson and Oregon started slow in 2024, but he has 50 catches for 470 yards and six touchdowns. In the last four games, Johnson has had at least seven catches for 75 or more yards in each game. He has touchdowns in each of the last three games and will look to continue that roll at Purdue.
7. Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona
McMillan has had an up and down season. The standout 6-foot-5 target has had three 100-plus yard games this year. But he has also had disappointing games with 11 and 50 receiving yards. In total, McMillan has 42 catches for 742 yards and four touchdowns. The Wildcats need a big game from him against Colorado.
6. Jack Bech, TCU
The senior receiver has surprised after catching just a dozen passes a year ago. The 6-foot-2 senior has 39 catches for 702 yards and seven touchdowns. That includes four 100+ yard games, although he was quiet in TCU's last game against Houston. Off a week off, Bech will face challenge at Utah this weekend.
5. Tai Felton, Maryland
The 6-foot-1 senior had big expectations. While Maryland has struggled, Felton hasn't been the problem. With 55 catches for 719 yards and five scores, Felton has been remarkably solid. He has four 100+ yard games and five games with seven or more catches. He'll get a good matchup at home against USC on Saturday.
4. Andrew Armstrong, Arkansas
Armstrong was Arkansas's top receiver last year and he has been brilliant in 2024. His nine catches for 132 yards helped seal Arkansas's upset of Tennessee. Despite missing the Hogs' opener, Armstrong has 38 catches for 552 yards. He'll look to exploit the LSU defense at home this weekend.
3. Xavier Restrepo, Miami
The 5-foot-10 senior has been a significant part of a 6-0 Miami squad. With 32 catches for 585 yards and five scores, Restrepo has been important as a big play target. His 18.3 yards per catch is a big improvement over last year. His game at Louisville bears watching.
2. Nick Nash, San Jose State
Still the best receiver most fans don't know, Nash leads the nation in catches with 62, and touchdowns with 10 and is second in yardage at 806. Nash has at least one touchdown in every game so far, and has yet to finish with under 75 yards. In fact, he has three 150-plus yard games. The 6-foot-3 Nash is likely to have another big game against Wyoming this week.
1. Ryan Williams, Alabama
Williams has been a bit quiet in Alabama's last two games, a loss to Vandy and a narrow win over South Carolina. Still, the outstanding frosh has 576 yards and six scores and his 25 yards per catch leads the nation. Williams could help the Tide tremendously with a couple big plays this week against Tennessee.
