Top 5 non-conference games fans shouldn't miss in Week 2 of college football ft. Texas vs Michigan

In-conference games can be fun, but non-conference games allow fans to see unusual matchups that do not happen most years. Week 1 had some exciting non-conference games, including a matchup between LSU and USC.

With the college football season moving into Week 2, there are many more non-conference games to watch.

Top 5 non-conference games fans should watch in Week 2

Although there are many fun in-conference games in Week 2, there should also be several great non-conference matchups. These are five games fans should not miss this week.

#1 Texas vs Michigan

The Texas Longhorns are headed to Michigan to take on the Wolverines on Saturday. These are two preseason top-10 ranked teams coming off of Week 1 wins. The Longhorns of the SEC handily defeated Colorado State 52-0, and the Wolverines of the B1G had a 30-10 victory over Fresno State.

Both teams have big expectations this season and this will be the first test for each team. The team that comes out on top will set itself up well going into the rest of the season.

#2 Tennessee vs NC State

The Tennessee Volunteers are coming off a huge 69-3 win over Chattanooga, and NC State pulled off a 38-21 victory over Western Carolina last week.

The win earned NC State a top 25 ranking (24th). This week, the Wolfpack will have a tough non-conference matchup against the number 14 ranked Volunteers. NC State will host Tennessee on Saturday.

#3 Colorado vs Nebraska

Colorado is coming off a narrow 31-26 victory over ND State in Week 1. Although it was a win, the narrow margin is not what the Buffaloes were looking for to start their season.

This week, the team will face Nebraska after it defeated UTEP 40-7. The Buffaloes will be looking to bounce back, while Nebraska will look to pull off an upset in what should be an exciting Week 2 matchup on Saturday.

#4 Boise State vs Oregon

Boise State vs Oregon is an exciting matchup because while both teams won in Week 1, neither won in the manner they had hoped. Boise State scored 56 points against Georgia Southern but also allowed 45.

Oregon won 24-14 over Idaho in a matchup that should have been an easy win for the Ducks. Oregon is the favorite in the matchup, but both teams need to show improvement on Saturday.

#5 Iowa State vs Iowa

While these two teams share a state, they do not share a conference. Iowa plays in B1G, whereas Iowa State plays in B12.

Iowa earned a top 25 ranking (21) after last week's 40-0 win over Illinois State. Iowa State will look to win its second game in a row and knock off its in-state rival after winning 21-3 over North Dakota last week. Iowa will host the game on Saturday afternoon.
