Top 5 non-conference games fans shouldn't miss in Week 3 of college football ft. Missouri vs. Boston College
While Week 3 has many teams delving into conference play, there are still plenty of interesting non-conference games. With even a battle of top-25 teams out of conference, Week 3 presents a fair number of must-see non-conference battles.
Here are the top five most interesting non-conference Week 3 battles.
Top 5 best non-conference games in college football Week 3
5. Colorado vs. Colorado State
Colorado's fall from possible college football glamor fixation to mediocre team could take a big step against their in-state rival. A season ago, the Buffs needed double overtime to dispatch the Rams, even as a 23.5-point favorite per DraftKings sportsbook. This year, Colorado is just a 7.5-point road favorite.
Meanwhile, it's hard to tell if the Rams are even any good. They were blasted by Texas in the opener, which wasn't a surprise. Neither was an easy Week 2 win over Northern Colorado. The Week 3 battle could be definitive for CSU.
4. Memphis vs. Florida State
Florida State's tumble from the top 10 to 0-2 could now continue with AAC power Memphis. Memphis is off to an easy 2-0 start but will still be a 6.5-point road underdog at FSU.
Florida State, meanwhile, seems to have hit a run of bad football and bad luck to open the 2024 season. The Noles probably expected to have an easy run against Georgia Tech and Boston College, but both were solid teams.
3. Oregon vs. Oregon State
Oregon has underachieved a bit in its first two games, only besting Boise State on a last-gasp field goal. Meanwhile, Oregon State used to be a conference rival but found itself left out in the cold after the destruction of the Pac-12.
A chance to beat the No. 9 team in the country as well as an in-state rival, while simultaneously delivering a statement to possible interested conferences would be huge for Oregon State. The Beavers are a 16.5-point underdog.
2. Alabama vs. Wisconsin
The No. 4 Tide had their struggles with South Florida in Week 2 before pulling away late. Meanwhile, Wisconsin, while respected, is not expected to be a Big Ten challenger. The Tide are a 15.5-point favorite, but it's another checkpoint for the newly installed Kalen DeBoer offense.
1. Missouri vs. Boston College
The only non-conference showdown of ranked teams is something of a surprise. Missouri is coming off an 11-win season and drew one of the lighter SEC schedules. But Boston College is a bit of a surprise, dominating Florida State in a 28-13 upset.
The Eagles are a 16.5-point underdog here, but it'll be interesting to see if they're legitimate and if Missouri struggles in its first battle with legitimate competition.
