Top 5 SEC college football players to watch out for in 2025 NFL draft ft. Quinn Ewers
The SEC has been littered with incredibly talented college football players who can dominate in the NFL draft. Even though we still have not started the college football season, people are anticipating what the 2025 NFL draft will look like. Let's take a look at the top five SEC players to keep an eye out for.
Top SEC College Football Players for the 2025 NFL Draft
Quinn Ewers, Texas
The Texas Longhorns have a solid quarterback who should be one of the top players in the 2025 NFL draft. He would've been one of the best players in the 2024 draft class but decided to return for another season. Last season, Quinn Ewers went 272-of-394 (69.0%) for 3,479 yards with 22 passing touchdowns to six interceptions.
He has been a star on the field and teams are going to be jumping up at the possibility to improve their quarterback situation with Ewers in their huddle.
Carson Beck, Georgia
Carson Beck is in a similar boat to what Quinn Ewers is, but the difference is Beck is starting for only his second season this year. The Georgia Bulldogs star quarterback played extremely well last season as he went 302-of-417 (72.4%) for 3,941 yards with 24 passing touchdowns to six interceptions. He also was fifth in the NCAA with an 86.0 QBR in 2023, so he should prove he is exactly the right fit in the 2025 NFL draft.
James Pearce Jr., Tennessee
One of the best overall defensive tackles in the entire draft class is going to be Tennessee Volunteers defensive lineman James Pearce Jr. He finished last season as a star as he had 27 total tackles (18 solo, nine assisted) with 9.5 sacks, a pair of forced fumbles, and an interception. Pearce is one of the top pass-rushers in the nation and should be quickly off the draft boards.
Mykel Williams, Georgia
Another Georgia Bulldogs player pops up on the list as defensive lineman Mykel Williams is going to be a name to watch out for. He finished last season with 16 total tackles (nine solo, seven assisted) with a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a pair of pass deflections. While the numbers are not there on the counting stats, Williams showcased the ability to play well in the run defense and really clog up the gap to not allow much against him. There are some factors of this game that he needs to improve upon but he can be a solid contributor at the next level.
Jalen Milroe, Alabama
Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe is going to be an interesting player to watch as similar to Carson Beck, he is entering his second season as the starter. However, he is undergoing a brand new coach after Nick Saban retired after last season. Milroe was benched early on but had strong numbers overall as he went 187-of-264 (65.8%) for 2,834 yards with 23 passing touchdowns to six interceptions.
However, his legs were a massive weapon with 161 carries for 531 yards (3.3 yards per attempt) and 12 rushing touchdowns. He is going to be a quarterback to keep your eyes on throughout the 2024 college football season to see how he does with coach Kalen DeBoer.
