What is Arch Manning's 40-yard-dash time? Learn more about Texas QB's athleticism
Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning grabbed headlines yet again after he replaced the injured Quinn Ewers and put up a show in the game against the UTSA Roadrunners. With Ewers likely to miss the next game, Manning will get a full-fledge opportunity to show his skills.
Despite being a quarterback, Manning is as fast as receivers. Per On3's data, Manning takes 4.6 s to complete a 40-yard dash. For comparison, he lands between Patrick Mahomes (4.8 s) and Lamar Jackson (4.34 s).
Moreover, it's also imperative to judge him from his genes. His uncle, Eli Manning, had a 4.92 s 40-yard dash while Peyton Manning did it in 4.8 s.
Apart from four passing touchdowns against UTSA, he also rushed for a touchdown. In three carries, he ran for 53 yards, highlighting his dual-threat ability as a signal-caller.
All in all, many analysts have hailed him as the next big thing including Paul Finebaum, who already declared him a Heisman winner in the making.
Steve Sarkisian highlights "selfless" personality of Arch Manning
For someone coming from a rich football lineage like Manning, Arch Manning is as grounded as can be. That came to the fore when Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian praised the young star.
"I don't do anything," Sarkisian said. "Arch is just another guy on our team, and the reason I'm able to do that is because that's who Arch is every day. He's the selfless teammate. He cares about the guys on the team. He cares about Quinn. They've got a great relationship.
"He works his tail off. He wants to play good football for them, because he knows how hard everybody's working. So I literally don't address it with him. I don't address it with the team. He's just part of the team."
The No. 1 Longhorns will next play unranked LA-Monroe on Saturday. If Ewers isn't available, expect Arch Manning to take the majority of snaps.
