When Steve Sarkisian spoke on getting backlash for wife Loreal Sarkisian's fashion choice: "Not everybody loves what I wear"
Texas Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian and his wife, Loreal Sarkisian, took to Instagram on Friday to announce their divorce after four years as a married couple. The news left many fans saddened by the news, as the duo has always been admired for their chic gameday outfits styled by Loreal.
In an interview with "The Pivot," in April 2023, Steve Sarkisian talked about how Loreal dresses him up for the Longhorns' matchups and also spoke about how not everybody loves it.
"Even on game day, she dresses me on game day, I'll give her that," Steve said. "Not everybody loves what I wear, I like it, she likes it. So we're good."
Further talking about what Loreal's support has meant for the Texas coach, Sarkisian said:
"She was the one that kept reminding me. She was the one, when jobs would come up, she said, I don't think that's the one. I think you're better than that. And I was like, wow, OK, all right.
"It was like I needed, I needed some of that, you know, to build my own self confidence, and then even going to order times like, because the idea to think that, 'Hey, I did that in 2015,' and then I've just, life's been great and perfect since then we all still have struggles.
"We still go through things. You know, it's a daily process for all of us. She's been there every step of the way, the good, the bad, the ugly, whatever it's looked like. And she's right there every single time."
More on Steve Sarkisian's family
The Texas head coach tied the knot with Loreal Sarkisian in 2020, five years after his divorce with his first wife, Stephanie.
Stephanie and Steve got married in the year 1997 and spent eighteen years together before calling quits. They have three children, Brady, Ashley and Taylor.
Steve Sarkisian's son Brady Sarkisian joined the Texas Longhorns as a walk-on in 2022 and is often seen working on himself with his teammates. Before committing to Texas, Brady, who plays as a linebacker, received offers from two other programs, Marshall Herd and Arkansas State.
Talking about what it's like to have his son on the team for which he's head coach, Steve Sarkisian said:
"Very cool moment. That’s one of the cool things about what you get to do in this profession, that’s one of them: to have your son on your team and be around him every day."
Despite the ups and downs in his personal life, Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns will be geared up to compete in the Southeastern Conference for the first time in 2024.
