Who is the celebrity guest picker on "College GameDay" Week 3? Closer look at ESPN show's venue, kickoff time and moreĀ

ESPN's "College GameDay" for Week 3 of the college football season is knocking on the door and there is some excitement in the air after the show officially announced their guest picker for this week.

With the show heading down to Columbia for the SEC matchup between the No. 16 LSU Tigers (1-1) and South Carolina Gamecocks (2-0), it was announced that South Carolina women's basketball coach and defending national champion Dawn Staley would be the celebrity guest picker.

Dawn Staley will be hoping to do a little better than last week's celebrity guest picker, Olympic gold medalist swimmer Michael Phelps, who chose the Michigan Wolverines to defeat the Texas Longhorns in Ann Arbor.

ESPN's "College GameDay" is a traveling show that goes across the nation to massive matchups throughout the college football schedule for each week of the season. While they do not announce which games they will be attending too far out in advance, they are going to be in Columbia, South Carolina to see the LSU Tigers and South Carolina Gamecocks face off on Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Things could be looking up for a home upset though, as the last time "College GameDay" was at a game between a ranked and an unranked opponent was for Week 0 this season where the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets upset the then No. 10 Florida State Seminoles in Dublin, Ireland.

When did the South Carolina Gamecocks last host ESPN's College GameDay?

With "College GameDay" going to massive games throughout the college football season, it can often be difficult for the show to emanate from a specific school. Tell that to the South Carolina Gamecocks, as the show has not been to Columbia since Sept. 27, 2014, for a game between the Missouri Tigers and the then No. 13 Gamecocks.

However, that is probably a game the Gamecocks don't want to bring up too much, as they were upset 21-20 at home by the Tigers. However, this was not the most recent time South Carolina was involved in a game that "College GameDay" attended.

The show was in Charlotte, North Carolina last season for a Week 1 clash that saw the Gamecocks lose to the Tar Heels 31-17.
