Why did Dylan Edwards transfer to Kansas State? Exploring potential reasons behind former Colorado RB's move

Dylan Edwards joined the Colorado Buffaloes as a four-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. He had a strong true freshman season, finishing the year with 321 rushing yard and one touchdown on 76 carries, adding 299 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 36 receptions. He had five kickoff returns for 105 yards and two punt returns for 19 yards.

Despite a strong all-around season, Edwards shocked fans when he opted to enter the transfer portal. He returned close to home, joining the Kansas State Wildcats, who's campus is just over two hours away from where he played his high school football. He discussed his decision with Curry Sexton of Cats Talk by Wildcat NIL:

"I just did a lot of thinking and soul searching, and I learned a lot about myself in the time that I was gone from Kansas.
"And I just thought about it real hard, and I just felt like it was my best decision to leave Colorado and do my own thing as far as go to a team that I know it will be good for me, a good fit for me and that I could be great at and that I could do something that's bigger than myself and just be a part of a family."

Shedeur Sanders weighs in on Dylan Edwards' departure

The Colorado Buffaloes have plenty of starpower, and Shedeur Sanders is a big part of that. The Buffaloes quarterback weighed in on Dylan Edwards' departure from the team:

"I never would knock a player for transferring if he feels like that's best for him. That's my guy at the end of the day, regardless of anything.
"So, if that was the best decision for him, that's great for him. ... I wasn't surprised. I talked to him. Just in general, but I kind of understood where his mind was at and I understand."
