Stats: 10 lowest totals in World Cup history
Canada’s total of 36 all out against Sri Lanka at Paarl in the 2003 World Cup still remains the lowest score made by any team in World Cup history. Prabath Nissanka and Chaminda Vaas were the wreckers-in-chief that day, taking 4 wickets and 3 wickets respectively.
The Canadians make an appearance at the second spot as well, having scored just 45 against England at Old Trafford in Manchester in the 1979 edition. They share that spot with Namibia, who were bowled out for the same total against Australia at Potchefstroom in the 2003 edition of the tournament.
Bangladesh were embarrassed in front of their home fans when they were skittled out for 58 by the West Indies at Dhaka in the 2011 edition. A significant instance of a team being bowled for a paltry total occurred in the 1992 edition when Pakistan were bowled out for 74 by England at Adelaide. However, the game didn't produce a result due to rain and both teams were awarded a point each, which meant that the Men in Green stayed alive in the competition.
Ireland, Bangladesh and Bermuda round off the list with scores of 77, 78 and 78.
One of the main points to note is the fact that the list contains just one game where a top 8 batting line-up has been blown away by the opposition bowlers while in the rest of the cases it hasn't been the hardest of tasks for bowlers to get their names in the wickets columns.
With quality attacks in few of the opposition ranks, this time around as well, it remains to be seen if some of the minnows can handle the hostility that will be on offer down under.
