10-year-old Kashmir kid stuns Kumar Sangakkara with his batting skills

One of the most beautiful places on earth, Kashmir has often been in the headlines for unfortunate reasons. As sports is considered an element that revives hope and gives people the strength to overcome the grief, it has largely been able to do so in the trouble-hit valley.

Recently, a seven-year-old kid from Kashmir received huge praise from Shane Warne after the legend saw his googly that had turned sharply. Not much later, one more rising star from the place caught the eyes of Sri Lankan legendary batsman, Kumar Sangakkara.

This evening, a Twitter user had tweeted a video in which a small kid was stroking the ball. He had tagged the former Lankan captain in the tweet and asked him the opinion regarding the kid's batting.

Meer Murtaza, a Twitter user referred the video to Sangakkara, pointing out how his cover drives resembled the ones the modern batting legend was known for.

Five hours later, something really stunning happened- the former Sri Lanka captain replied and appreciated the kid for his 'elegant cover-drive',

"His position looks excellent. Lovely to see him cover drive so elegantly. Wish him luck and I hope he has a fantastic time playing this game we love." Sangakkara replied.

Meanwhile, the user who turned out to be the kid's brother confirmed to Sportskeeda that his name is Sarim and he belongs to South Kashmir's Kulgam district.

"He is absolutely astonished since I told him that Sangakkara has praised his batting skills. Of course, our whole family is jubilated," Murtaza told Sportskeeda.

"He has been practicing since he was 7 and I'm sure he will make it big in future," he added.

The kid might surely remember this day for remaining part of his life as there aren't many cricketers around the world who get lauded by legends like Sangakkara.
