2 changes India might make to their squad for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against Australia
India ended the Kiwi tour with a narrow loss in the final T20I. Thus, the ended up winning the ODI series 4-1 and losing the T20I series 1-2.
After the rather fruitful overseas tours of Australia and New Zealand, India will be resuming their home season in two weeks' time. The Australian cricket team is set to tour India to play in a 2-match T20I series and a 5-match ODI series.
The limited overs cricket tour will commence with the T20I on 24th February at Vizag. The ODI series starts on March 2nd in Hyderabad.
On that note, here's a look at the two changes that India are likely to make to their squad for the home series:
Changes in the T20I squad: KL Rahul and Umesh Yadav in
Virat Kohli might miss the two-match T20I series so that he can come back rejuvenated for the subsequent ODI series. In Kohli's absence, his deputy Rohit Sharma is likely to continue leading the T20I side.
Speaking of the squad, most of the players who participated in the previous series are expected to retain their spots. However, KL Rahul might manage to reclaim the reserve opener's slot in the squad, with rising star Shubman Gill possibly making way for him.
The rest of the batting department is expected to remain unaltered.
In the bowling department, the selectors might be tempted to give Umesh Yadav a chance after his impressive performances in the IPL last year. Umesh might replace Mohammed Siraj in the squad.
Changes in the ODI Squad: Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah in
This will be India's last ODI series before the World Cup 2019, so they will be keen to address all the prevalent issues and find a settled combination. India will want Ambati Rayudu, Hardik Pandya, and Kedar Jadhav to become more consistent with the bat in the middle order.
On the bowling front, they would want to identify the fourth seamer for the World Cup squad.
ODI stalwarts Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are expected to be back in the squad for the upcoming series after a much-deserved break. The selectors might also select KL Rahul as the reserve opener in the squad.
Other than these three changes, India might stick with the same set of players who played in the previous series. Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj are could possibly make way for the aforementioned players in the squad.
