2 modern batsmen who never got their due
Each and every cricket player wants to play for their country and win laurels by either winning the World Cup or a Test-series for their home team. They work hard and strive to be the best in the world of cricket. In return, they want due recognition and respect from the audiences and fans.
Sachin Tendulkar, Vivian Richards, Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, Ricky Ponting, Virat Kohli, and a lot of other players expressed themselves on the field to the best of their abilities and got tons of fame and respect in return.
On the other hand, there have been a few batsmen who excelled equally, if not more, but never got the adulation which they deserved. In recent times, there have been two such batsmen who never got their due.
#2 Younis Khan
Younis Khan was one of the finest batsman which Pakistan produced. He made his debut against Sri Lanka and scored a century. Khan was a technically good batsman but struggled early on in the innings. It took him almost a year to learn from the greats like Mohammad Azharuddin and Rahul Dravid. Subsequently, he metamorphosed into a splendid batsman.
He played 118 Test matches and scored 10,099 runs at an average of 52.05. This comprised 34 centuries and 33 half-centuries. Khan is the only Pakistani batsman to score more than 10,000 runs in the Test matches.
He holds a unique distinction of scoring a ton against all the cricket playing countries. He also holds the record for the most centuries and the most runs by a Pakistani in the Test cricket history. Khan broke the batting records of Javed Miandad, but could never attain the fame and respect which the latter got.
