3 best bowling performances in LSG vs CSK matches in IPL ft. Moeen Ali

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will take on the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 34th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday, April 19.

Host Lucknow currently sits fifth on the points table, having won three and lost as many in the six matches. LSG lost their last game against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). After being asked to bat first, KL Rahul’s side only managed to score 161 runs.

In response, KKR looked comfortable and chased down the target with 26 balls to a spare. Now, Lucknow will be looking to rectify their mistakes and come back to winning ways when they CSK on their home turf.

On the other hand, the Chennai Super Kings have won four and lost two of the six matches they have played so far. CSK defeated rival Mumbai Indians (MI) in their last game. Batting first, the Super Kings scored 206 runs, courtesy of fifties from Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni hit three consecutive sixes in Hardik Pandya’s last over, taking CSK's score over 200.

In response, no other batter except for Rohit Sharma (105* off 63 balls) stood up for MI. Matheesha Pathirana led the way for CSK by picking up four wickets as Chennai defeated MI by 20 runs.

If we look at head-to-head records, CSK and LSG have faced off three times, with both teams winning one match each. One game produced no result because of rain. The Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and chose to field first in the seventh match of IPL 2022 held at the Brabourne Stadium. Robin Uthappa led the charge for CSK and scored fifty in 27 balls. He was well supported by Moeen Ali (35) and Shivam Dube (49) as the Super Kings scored 210 runs in their 20 overs.

However, what caught fans’ attention was the brilliant bowling display by Ravi Bishnoi, who took two important wickets and conceded only 24 in his spell of four overs when other bowlers were hit around the park.

Meanwhile, while chasing, KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock shared a 99-run opening partnership. In the middle overs, Evin Lewis came to the party and remained unbeaten on 55 runs in just 23 balls, guiding LSG to a win with three balls remaining.

After being invited to bat first, CSK scored 217 runs in the sixth match of the IPL 2023 held at MA. Chidambaram Stadium, thanks to decent knocks by Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Convay.

Meanwhile, for LSG, once again, Ravi Bishnoi rose to the occasion and took three wickets, conceding only 28 runs when CSK batters were going crazy.

In response, Kyle Mayers led the way for LSG, scoring 53 runs off 22 balls. Other Lucknow batters also chipped in; however, they fell short of the target and lost by 12 runs. For CSK, it was Moeen Ali who created barries for LSG by picking up four wickets, guiding the Super Kings to an amazing win.

Moeen Ali’s gem of a spell came in the very same match, where CSK scored 217 runs and Ravi Bishnoi took three wickets. LSG started well while chasing a target of 218 runs; however, the English player kept taking wickets at regular intervals, keeping CSK in the match.

Moeen took four wickets (KL Rahul, Kyle Mayers, Krunal Pandya, and Marcus Stoinis) and helped CSK win the high-scoring contest. In the first inning, the CSK player scored 19 runs on 13 balls, and looking at his all-round performance, Moeen Ali was announced as the Player of the Match.
