3 best RTM candidates for DC at the IPL 2025 auction ft. Jake Fraser-McGurk
The Delhi Capitals (DC) have plenty of work to do at the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, which will be held in Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25. The IPL 2020 finalists are yet to win a title in the history of the league, and if that is to change, they will need to assemble a gun squad.
DC's task has been made difficult by the fact that Rishabh Pant, who led them in IPL 2024 and has been an integral part of their side since making his debut in the league, has been released. Pant will enter the auction pool, and it's safe to say that he is unlikely to return to Delhi.
The Capitals currently have four players on their roster - Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs and Abishek Porel. They have two RTM cards in their hands, one of which can be used on an uncapped player if needed.
On that note, here are the three best RTM candidates for DC at the IPL 2025 auction.
#3 Jake Fraser-McGurk
Signed as a replacement player, Jake Fraser-McGurk turned out to be one of DC's standout performers in IPL 2024. The youngster pulverized opposition bowling attacks in the powerplay, countering both pace and spin with a range of shots on both sides of the wicket.
Delhi's home venue, the Arun Jaitley Stadium, has become a graveyard for bowlers. Fraser-McGurk is perfectly suited to exploit the conditions at the ground, and given his immense ceiling, he's bound to develop into a world-class player.
While Fraser-McGurk hasn't been in the best of form in international cricket lately, he is still bound to pique DC's interest at the IPL 2025 auction.
#2 Harry Brook
One of the world's most exciting batters, Harry Brook hasn't set the IPL on fire in the limited opportunities he has had. While he did hit a century for the SunRisers Hyderabad, his stint with the Delhi Capitals didn't go to plan as he had to withdraw from the 2024 edition due to personal reasons.
Nevertheless, DC will not need to go far to find a talented middle-order batter for their side. The pairing of Brook and Stubbs promises to be extremely exciting, with the duo having unbelievable range around the ground and long levers. The Englishman has been in sizzling form for England lately, and a breakthrough IPL campaign seems inevitable in the near future.
Even though Brook hasn't played a single game for DC so far, he is a genuine RTM candidate.
#1 Rasikh Salam
It was a surprise that DC didn't retain Rasikh Salam for the uncapped retention amount of ₹4 crore. The Jammu & Kashmir fast bowler was their standout in the pace department in IPL 2024, taking up challenging roles at the death and coming out with flying colors more often than not.
Rasikh is now in the India A mix and has plenty of room to grow. Delhi will need quality death bowlers at their home venue, and the youngster not only has a mean yorker but an excellent slower ball as well. It would be a no-brainer for the Capitals to bring him back.
